Another College of San Mateo player is headed to Arizona. 2024 receiver Jeremiah Patterson has announced his commitment to the Wildcats following a visit to Tucson. He had picked up some smaller offers previously and was gaining attention as a PWO by other programs including USC but it is sounding like he'll join UA as a scholarship player now giving the team another playmaker.

He led CSM with 55 catches for 790 yards receiving and 11 touchdowns. He had over 350 yards as a returner to go along with a touchdown on special teams as well.

He'll have two seasons of eligibility left.

Miami defensive back Demetrius Freeney Jr. has announced his transfer commitment to Arizona this evening. He played in three games, mostly on special teams, while with the Hurricanes in 2023. The Bay Area native was previously at College of San Mateo, which has been growing its connection with UA through the new coaching staff.

Arizona has added a transfer commitment from Stanford defensive end Lance Keneley today following his visit to Tucson. The 6-foot-4, 250-pound defensive lineman from Mission Viejo, California is coming off his best season after having 35 tackles (16 solo) to go with 4 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks for the Cardinal in 2023. He made nine starts and played in all 12 games last season.

Keneley, who is another Arizona player that played at Mission Viejo HS, heads to UA with one season of remaining eligibility. He's played in 32 games throughout his four college seasons.

Tacario Davis (UPDATE)

Arizona cornerback Tacario Davis has withdrawn his name from the transfer portal making him officially returning to the team for the 2024 season. This was a massive win for Brent Brennan and that coaching staff, which needed Davis' skillset in the worst way.

With Davis back, the Wildcats' secondary is pretty much set with the exception of the No. 2 cornerback slot. I think the staff will make a move and try to get someone from the portal to sure that side of the field up.

Elijhah Badger (UPDATE)

Hey guys, I just wanted to update you on Elijhah Badger and where he is along his process. Right now he is on the road at Florida taking his visit along with former Colorado cornerback Cormani McClain, who just committed to the Gators this morning.

I think Badger will come back home and evaluate the visits with his family and group. However, it seems to be (this could change given how transfers work) that Arizona and Florida are the favorites to land the former Sun Devil.

Official visit weekend No. 1 (May 3-5)

As teams transition out of spring ball and into the spring visit season, the Wildcats will host their first batch of official visitors. Many programs have opted to begin using May as a time for official visits, and Arizona is one of them. Even last year it was rare for programs to begin hosting official visitors in May, but that mindset has changed across the board. The "big" visits wills till be taking place in June but there are still going to be plenty of priority targets on campus in the coming weeks.

We'll continue adding to this list, but here are some of the early names expected in Tucson this week.

Breakdown of Anthony Dell'Orso

Hey guys, I've been working on this breakdown of new Wildcat Anthony Dell'Orso's game and what it means for the lineup depending on who comes back for the 2024-25 season.

I hope you enjoy it and ask any questions you have as well.

TRANSFER UPDATE: Arizona snags guard Anthony Dell'Orso

Arizona has added former Campbell guard Anthony Dell'Orso, who has been testing the NBA waters similarly to KJ Lewis and Caleb Love.

Dell'Orso averaged 20.2 points and shot 39% from deep while collecting 6.5 rebounds and 1.9 assists this past season.

He comes to Arizona as a 6-foot-6 guard that can handle to ball and get to the line knocking down 81% of his foul shots.

NBA early entrant list

The NBA released its list of early entry players today. Caleb Love is not on the list but that is fully believed to be an oversight by the NBA. The feeling is that it will be resolved and he will have his opportunity to go through the process.

Jaden Bradley is on the list and had not been previously linked to leaving early. Again, it really only benefits players to test the waters and see where they’d be without losing any eligibility. KJ Lewis and Pelle Larsson are both on the list as well, but both previously announced their plan to do so.

All the players with remaining college eligibility will have until May 29 to withdraw and return to their school. Some players, not Arizona players, have also put their name into the transfer portal. The transfer window closes May 1, so players who have not yet entered the portal but are going through the draft process will have to return to their school if the decide to return to college after May 1.

Alec Marenco (UPDATE)

Well, after talking to Danny Gonzales during his press conference and him making clear that the team would more than likely be adding Alec Marenco without saying his name (So he wouldn't break rules), a surprising move has happened with Marenco announcing his commitment to Kansas State today on Twitter.

I'm really not sure what happened, but it might just be a cast where KSU came in at the last minute and won the battle late in the process.

(UPDATE) Caleb Love

Hey guys, today on Twitter Caleb Love announced that he will go through the NBA Draft process, but he will not sign an agent and keep his NCAA eligibility open. This gives Love the ability to see where he stacks up against the rest of the class and then make the decision rather, or not to come back for another season under Tommy Lloyd.

Love's tweet:

Like we've said for a while now, Arizona is working on getting Love $1-1.3 million in NIL to come back for another season and help lead a group of young and talent players to a deep NCAA run.

TRANSFER UPDATE: Tennessee big man Tobe Awaka commits to Arizona

Arizona has locked up a commitment from Tennessee reserve big man Tobe Awaka this morning. The 6-foot-8, 250-pound forward from New York played in 35 games this season and averaged 5.1 points and 4.6 rebounds for the Vols.

He should add some toughness to the rotation up front and provide some depth in the front court.

Awaka has played in 69 games over two seasons and has two seasons of remaining eligibility with the Wildcats.

Transfer commitment: Oregon OL Michael Wooten commits to Arizona

Here's my story on the commitment of Oregon redshirt freshman offensive lineman Michael Wooten to Arizona tonight. He's only played two snaps in his career but was a high three-star recruit out of high school. He's had to deal with some injuries through two seasons but will have a career reset in Tucson. He checks in officially at 6-foot-4 and 310 pounds. The sample size is of course very small, but he's played left tackle in his career up to this point.

He didn't see the field at all in 2023 and sat out the spring at Oregon while waiting for the portal window to open.

Oregon State transfer running back and the second most-productive runner in the Pac-12 last season, Damien Martinez, is beginning a string of visits with a trip to Tucson. The rising junior will also make visits to Mississippi State, Kentucky and Miami in the next 10 days as he is looking like he will move quickly on a decision.

Arizona football: Spring practice Day 14

Hey guys we're wrapping up Day 14 of spring practice and I wanted to come in and share my takes. Also, it was a very slow day at practice, so these takes will be about off field things.

Quick takes:

- Tetairoa McMillan is now in a cast on the left lower leg and coach Brent Brennan said he had a procedure done. But, Brennan wouldn't say what the problem was and said they expected him to be ready for the season.

- Jordan Washington is officially in the transfer portal, but practiced with the team today.

- Arizona will be landing linebacker Alec Marenco, LB coach Danny Gonzales let the cat out of the hat.

We'll have more, but fire away with questions.

TRANSFER UPDATE: Arizona lands Trey Townsend

Arizona has landed Oakland transfer Trey Townsend with him announcing his commitment on Instagram this morning. Townsend picked the Wildcats over Ohio State after taking a visit to Tucson last week.

During the power forwards time at Oakland, he became a major part of the Golden Grizzlies team averaging 17.3 points and 8.1 rebounds while shooting 45% from the field and 38% from deep during the 2023-24 season.

Latest: Top-50 2025 wing Hudson Greer talks Arizona

Hudson Greer remains one of Arizona's priority targets in the 2025 class, and Rivals national director Rob Cassidy caught up with him over the weekend as spring travel ball season gets into full swing. Associate head coach Jack Murphy and the rest of the UA staff have been building a nice connection with him already and he's looking at visiting in the fall.

"I see Arizona as a great opportunity with those coaches, they love to get up and down. The stadium is amazing, too. It’s always a packed house."
