More December additions

Arizona continues to make additions this winter and there were several more to join the fray on Friday. That included Portland-based 2025 receiver Landon Kelsey who joined the Wildcats a preferred walk-on addition in the class. Plus a couple more transfer players joined the Wildcats in the trenches. Tennessee-Martin defensive lineman Deshawn McKnight and Georgia Tech offensive lineman Jordan Brown both announced their commitments to UA today. Brown's pledge followed a commitment from fellow offensive lineman Ty Buchanan (Texas Tech) while McKnight is the second defensive lineman to join the Wildcats in the cycle alongside Northwestern State defensive end Chancellor Owens.

Kelsey is a significant PWO addition for the Wildcats considering he had offers to programs such as Colorado State, San Diego State and UNLV among others. He had been committed to Eastern Washington until UA came through with its preferred walk-on offer last week.

Johnson was the Wildcats' leading tackler this year with 94 tackles to go along with 5 tackles for loss and 2 forced fumbles. Some more big news for UA, which earlier brought back fellow defensive back Genesis Smith. A couple big days for the staff in being able to have guys either stay or return from the portal.

The Wildcats add an important commitment this morning as Texas Tech and former USC offensive lineman Ty Buchanan announced his commitment to Arizona. Buchanan redshirted while with the Trojans before leaving that program to return home to Texas to play for the Red Raiders. In 2023, the Corpus Christi native ranked second nationally in PFF's pass blocking category among tackles. His numbers took a dip this year, but he has been a noted pass blocker throughout his time in Lubbock.

Buchanan could play on either side of the line as he spent his time at both right and left tackle this year. He made seven starts this year and played in nine games.

Stanford sophomore cornerback Jshawn Frausto-Ramos has committed to Arizona. The Los Angeles native made 5 starts and played in 21 games over two seasons with the Cardinal. A former four-star recruit from St. John Bosco High School in Bellflower, the Wildcats were one of the schools involved in pursuing the 6-foot, 190-pound defensive back out of high school in the 2023 class. He visited Tucson a couple times early in his recruitment.

Now, he'll come to UA as an experienced player with 40 total tackles in his career to go with a couple sacks and a couple forced fumbles. He had a couple standout performances in back-to-back weeks against Notre Dame and SMU with a combined 15 tackles plus a sack and forced fumble in those two contests.

Arizona has found its second quarterback in the 2025 class, and man has he produced at the high school level. Former Purdue commit Sawyer Anderson has announced his pledge to the Wildcats after backing away from his commitment to the Boilermakers on Sunday. Anderson, who passed for 5,134 yards and 49 touchdowns this season, had been committed to Purdue since August 2023 but backed away from that pledge with the recent coaching changes in West Lafayette. This is a big pickup for Arizona and helps to begin to replace what UA lost with Robert McDaniel going to UCLA.

Caleb Love

Southern Utah is NOT KU, Baylor, Iowa State, BYU, Utah, etc. etc. and yet our Pre-Season All American failed to show up again. Even though the entire team played and minutes were split, Love once again got the most minutes. 24. In 24 minutes he was 3-12 in FG and 2-5 in Threes with 3 Assists and 3 Turnovers. 2 total rebounds. I am guessing continues to give Love the most minutes thinking he will play his way out of a temporary slump. But the longer he plays the worse he is getting. Eventually though he will have one good game. I figured it would happen today against a cup cake. But alas it did not.

Arizona has made another addition to its 2025 class with big 6-foot-7 defensive lineman Porter Patton announcing his commitment to the Wildcats today after being offered a few weeks ago. Marshall, Air Force and Navy also offered him earlier in the process. He will have to wait to sign with UA until the regular signing period in February but the Wildcats add some size with the big defensive lineman from Texas. He plays at Westlake HS in Austin, which was the home of Nick Foles and is known for turning out top talent.

Arizona HC Brent Brennan Thursday press conference (staff changes)

After Brent Brennan announced on National Signing Day that he'd relegate coaching staff changes to Thursday's press conference, it built today up with dramatic suspense as to what kinds of adjustments would be hitting the program.

In my opinion those expectations were met as Brennan announced that Arizona would be with three new coaches taking the roles of the offensive, defensive, and special teams coordinators. If Brennan was going to remain in Tucson which I thought was the correct decision albeit a difficult one, then making major shifts to the surrounding coaching staff was the answer and he delivered.

Moving on from Dino Babers was the most obvious decision here as his entire system seemed to mess with everything good Arizona had going offensively and now it's up to the next OC to clean up those mistakes and bring this offense back to what it's capable of doing. Hiring outside of the program I think will make a lot of fans happy and that hire has to be a slam dunk considering the implications it has in terms of roster retention, next season success, and even plucking some good players out of the portal for the upcoming season.

I was definitely surprised when Duane Akina especially was demoted but keeping him around in the role that he was so successful at when Jedd Fisch was head coach is a massive win for this coaching staff and recruiting process as he can focus on what he's best at in this day and age. I'm honestly expecting Brennan to roll with Danny Gonzales as DC for the mean time as he never explicitly gave Gonzales a position in the press conference, I believe because he has to consider Gonzales a candidate but I'm curious to see what happens there.

Checkout the article below for more insight on Brennan's Thursday announcements and be sure to sound off with questions or any potential thoughts surrounding this big news:

Robert McDaniel (UCLA)

Hey guys, yesterday Arizona commit Robert McDaniel was suppose to sign with Arizona. However, with Cal needing a QB and UCLA firing its OC things changed and changed quickly.

McDaniel delayed his announcement and has now officially sign with UCLA over Cal and Arizona.

Brennan and his staff were in it tell the end but CFB craziness changed things and now he is with the Bruins.

Arizona has added to its haul for 2025 as Mesa-Red Mountain offensive lineman Jaxon Griffin has announced his commitment to the Wildcats following an official visit to UA over the weekend. The 6-foot-6, 250-pound prospect picked the Wildcats over offers from Colorado State and Oregon State. The Wildcats were the first team to enter the mix with an offer in October, but he camped with the staff back in June so the relationship is not a new one.

Arizona transfer loss (Brayden Dorman)

Hey guys, on Twitter late this afternoon former 4-star QB Brayden Dorman announced his decision to enter the transfer portal and leave the program.

Now, he was the first to remove his name from the portal when Brent Brennan was hired.

However, over the course of spring ball and training camp, Brayden Dorman struggled and couldn't find his footing as guys like Cole Tannenbaum, Anthony Garcia and Adam Damante passed him on the depth chart.

Dorman was never going to see the field at Arizona and now he is in the portal:
