GAME THREAD: No. 5 Arizona vs No. 12 Ole Miss (Super Regional - Game 2)

Two games left to get one win and Arizona is back in the College World Series. The first of those games is tonight as the Wildcats again host Ole Miss coming off last night's 9-3 comeback win over the Rebels. Tonight's game is starting a little later, but the goal is the same plus UA will have its hottest pitcher on the mound as Garrett Irvin makes his first start since throwing a three-hit complete game shutout last weekend against UC Santa Barbara.

The game is set to be televised by ESPN2 though it could start on a different channel with the game ahead of it currently running long. For now here are the lineups and pregame notes ahead of this evening's matchup.

• Arizona has sold close to 7,500 tickets for tonight's game before the walk-up crowd arrives so it should again break the postseason record here at Hi Corbett. UA has not yet broken 6,000 fans for a postseason game. The biggest crowd at Hi Corbett for an Arizona game is 8,067.​

1st inning

Top: Arizona is the road team tonight so they go up first to bat; Donta’ Williams opens the game with a strikeout on a tough pitch; Jacob Berry makes solid contact on a single to left center to become the first base runner of the night; Berry advances to second on a wild pitch; Branden Boissiere strikes out swinging; Daniel Susac goes down looking on a curveball as Doug Nikhazy puts together a strong inning for Ole Miss on the mound​

Bottom: Garrett Irvin falls behind Jacob Gonzalez and then the Ole Miss shortstop puts a ball out to left for an early Ole Miss lead; Peyton Chatagnier lines out to Tony Bullard at 3rd base; Kevin Graham flies out to center on a deep shot that just doesn’t have enough distance to go out; Ole Miss slugger Tim Elko goes down again with another strikeout to end the inning​

Top: Kobe Kato walks after a lengthy at-bat to get the leadoff runner on for the Wildcats; Bullard goes down swinging; Ryan Holgate struck out looking after another lengthy at-bat that featured four fouled-off pitches; Tanner O’Tremba grounds out to the short stop to bring the inning to end​

Bottom: Justin Bench singles to center to lead off the bottom half of the inning; after a strikeout and walk Dunhurst singles to left field bringing in another run for the Rebels; after a passed ball, John Rhys Plumlee singles to bring in another run on a play that Arizona opted to review but came up empty and couldn’t get the call on the field reversed; Gonzalez comes up with another extra base hit on a double to left center that brings in two more runs; Chatagnier comes up with a 2-run home run on the first pitch of the next at-bat; a single from Graham forces the Wildcats to go to the bullpen as Irvin’s day comes to an end after just 1 1/3 innings; Austin Smith is now on the mound and he gets Elko to strike out again; Bench grounds out to Kato at second to bring the long inning to an end​

Bottom: McCants goes down swinging to open up the bottom half of the inning; Baker goes down on strikes looking as the inning is off to a good start for Smith; Dunhurst walks before Plumlee singles to the right side putting two runners on base for the Rebels; Gonzalez walks loading up the bases and putting Smith in a tough spot; Chatagnier grounds out to Boissiere at first for the final out as the Wildcats avoid any more damage​

4th inning

Top: Boissiere opens the inning with a single on the second pitch of the at-bat; Susac grounds out but it moves Boissiere to second; Kato is hit by a pitch giving UA two runners on base; Bullard singles to center after a tough strike to bring in Boissiere giving the Wildcats some life; Ryan Holgate singles to the left side bringing in Kato as UA has gained some momentum this inning; O’Tremba goes down swinging on three pitches; McClaughry has a bad call go against him for strike one and eventually strikes out looking to strand two runners​

Bottom: Graham opens the bottom half of the inning with a single to center; Elko finally gets on the board with a hard-hit single to center, a bobble from Williams allows Graham to reach third; a wild pitch from Smith brings in Graham to score; Bench grounds out to second base; McCants is walked by Smith and that will do it for the UA pitcher as Quinn Flanagan comes in to replace him with runners on 1st and 3rd; Baker flies out to center allowing Elko to score; McCants steals second on a close play at the bag; Dunhurst singles to center bringing in McCants; Plumlee grounds it to short and McClaughry gets the force out to end the inning​

Top: Williams singles to left field to lead off the inning; Berry strikes out looking on a pitch that was a little too close to take; Boissiere comes up with a nice double down the line in right to give the Wildcats runners on 2nd and 3rd; Susac looks at a big breaking ball for strike three; Kato flies out to end the inning leaving a couple more runners on base​

Bottom: Gonzalez continues his big night with a double to right; Chatagnier singles to left putting the first two batters on base for Ole Miss; Graham singles for the Rebels’ third straight hit and Gonzalez scores; Elko flies out to center allowing Chatagnier to score extending the lead to 10 runs; Bench goes down swinging; Flanagan ends the inning with two strikeouts as McCants goes down swinging​

Top: Bullard walks to lead off the inning; Holgate pops up for the first out; O’Tremba battles and eventually earns a walk himself forcing Nikhazy out of the game after 5 1/3; McClaughry strikes out looking before the Rebels are able to throw out Bullard at third on a strike him out throw him out play to end the inning​

Bottom: Baker flies out to center; Dunhurst singles to give Ole Miss another base runner; Plumlee reaches on a fielder’s choice as McClaughry tries to turn a double play but only gets the lead runner; Plummer steals second; Gonzalez grounds out to Boissiere to end the inning​

Top: Williams hits a home run on a 1-2 count as he sends it 427 feet to right on top of the Terry Francona Hitting Center; Berry strikes out in the next at-bat; Boissiere singles to right field as the Wildcats have a little momentum now; Susac goes down swinging as he strikes out for the third time tonight; Kato pops up to the second baseman to end the inning​
