COMMITMENT: Arizona lands three-star ATH Turran Williams

Arizona has landed its 17th commitment for the 2024 class as three-star athlete Turran Williams has announced his commitment to the Wildcats on Twitter this afternoon. Williams is a 6-foot-3, 195-pound athlete that picked UA over offers from Boston College, Utah, Washington and Colorado State.

WATCH: 4-star DE Elijah Rushing talks Arizona OV

Elijah Rushing is the top priority on the board for Arizona, and the local four-star edge rusher recently made the short trip down the road to Arizona for an official visit with his hometown school. Things went well on the visit, and the Wildcats continue to trend in the right direction in his recruitment. There is a clear comfort level for Rushing with the program, and the visit only expanded his feelings on that.

"For me it was amazing just to look a little bit more in the city. I know I'm from here, but there are aspects I haven't seen of the city. Just to go around and see all that, and then just to be with great people overall it was just amazing for me to experience."

Troy caught up with Rushing to discuss the visit and where things stand overall heading into his last official visit of the process this week. He's set on making a decision after this weekend's trip to Tennessee, and he is expecting to commit to a school within the coming weeks.

Official visit breakdown: June 2

Arizona is hosting its first big June official visit weekend beginning Friday, and the group is highlighted by local star Elijah Rushing who moved his official visit with the Wildcats up from June 16. He has already taken one official visit to UCLA making it an important weekend for the hometown school to impress him before he makes his other trips.

Rushing is one of three four-star prospects expected to take a visit to Arizona this weekend along with Hawaiian offensive lineman Preson Taumua and Bay Area linebacker Naki Tuakoi. Taumua has already visited Arizona this spring, and the Wildcats are building some quality momentum with him.

I would not expect any of the four-star recruits to pull the trigger on a commitment just yet but White, Tuihalamaka and Akuila are all prospects to watch as potential commits by the end of the weekend.

UA will also have a couple previous commits on campus with Brandon Phelps making the trip down from Queen Creek and Isaiah Buxton headed out from San Diego.

Here’s the full list of visitors:

Recruiting update: Four-star guard Isaiah Elohim

During the Section 7 event, I talked to four-star shooting guard Isaiah Elohim about where Arizona sits in his recruitment.

Full story: https://arizona.rivals.com/news/ari...iting-update-on-four-star-guard-isaiah-elohim

The old Sean Miller staff first offered Elohim, but Tommy Lloyd and his staff have re-offered the 6-foot-5 guard and have him on their radar.

If you have any questions, go ahead and ask and I'll answer those questions.

Decision coming soon for three-star athlete Peyton Morgan

Today on Twitter, three-star ATH Peyton Morgan announced that he will be making his college decision on Sunday July 2, at 2 p.m. (CT), so noon our time.

Morgan is picking from Arizona, Texas Tech, TCU, SMU and Nebraska.

Reading through the lines, it seems that Texas Tech is the heavy favorite for the Texas native. However, Arizona has had more success in the state over the last two recruiting classes.

Mid-summer breakdown of Arizona's 2023-24 roster

Hey guys, I wanted to jump in and share by breakdown of the Wildcats' 2023-24 roster now that it is set. Plus, I dive into the schedule and what I think the additions of the transfers means for Arizona's depth.

There are quotes from coach Tommy Lloyd on individual players, the transfer portal and the highly anticipated non-conference schedule.

Arizona commit Luke Ferrelli flips to Stanford

Login to view embedded media Arizona has now lost a commitment in the 2024 class with three-star linebacker Luke Ferrelli flipping to Stanford today after tweeting about a new Stanford offer on Monday.

Once Ferrelli committed to Arizona, other teams took noticed and Stanford, along with Texas A&M started making a stronger push for the talented linebacker.

Before the Arizona commitment, Ferrelli's offers weren't Power 5 with Air Force, Army and Columbia among other teams interested in him.

Arizona was at No. 33 in the Rivals' team recruiting, but after losing out on Ferelli, the Wildcats have dropped three spots to No. 36. Meanwhile, Stanford now sits at No. 7 nationally with 26 commitments.

Official visit breakdown: June 9

Arizona is set to host its second official visit weekend of the month. So far the Wildcats have one public commitment from last weekend's set of trips, and the staff will go back to work this weekend looking to land more. It is an interesting makeup for an official visit group this week and looks much different than the group Jedd Fisch and his staff had on campus last weekend in Tucson.

There are no Arizona commits expected for visits this week, but there a couple prospects committed elsewhere who will be making their way to Tucson. Longtime Washington receiver commit Landon Bell is making his way out from Nevada to see the Wildcats after recently being offered. I watched him this, and he is an impressive player who has a ton of confidence and would provide another boost to the receiver group. Longtime BYU commit Chance Harrison is also headed out to Arizona this weekend for a visit as he continues to evaluate his after committing to the Cougars way back in October.

He is from Oxnard, California and will be joined by another Oxnard resident as safety Dayton Aupiu makes his way back to Arizona for an official visit. The Wildcats are among his top five alongside Penn State, Utah, Cal, and San Diego State.

Arizona's quarterback target most in play for a commitment will also be making his way out for an anticipated official visit with the Wildcats. California signal caller Dermaricus Davis visited UA back in April and then the program came through with an offer to him last month. Arizona is very much in play and a good visit this weekend could put the process into overdrive. He comes from the same area as recruiting staffer Armond Hawkins Jr., so there is a connection there. He has trips coming up to Oregon State and Washington later this month, but he's one to keep a close watch on this weekend.

I'd say the same is the case for in-state offensive lineman Matthew Lado, who has become a priority target for the staff at the offensive tackle position.

Arguably the most intriguing visitor of the weekend is junior college tight end Connor Gilbreath. He is currently a member of the 2024 class, but that is not expected to stick at this stage. As a full qualifier, he could join a team for the upcoming season and there are several programs in the mix looking to add him late. Arizona is the first among of a string of schools to host him in the coming weeks with official visits to LSU, Mississippi State and NC State all slated for the rest of the month.

One thing that makes the 6-foot-6 prospect interesting is that he is already planning on a position switch in college. At this point he is planning to join a team this season as a tight end before putting on weight and transitioning to offensive line in the 2024 season. It is certainly unique, but so far the schools in play are on the same page with him on that. UA offensive line coach Brennan Carroll has been leading Gilbreath's recruitment.

COMMITMENT: Oregon TE Charlie Crowell headed to Arizona

Arizona has picked up a commitment from Bend (Ore.) Summit tight end Charlie Crowell today. He visited UA, Cal and Washington State throughout the month, but eventually he decided Tucson, where he visited first, is the place he wants to call home. I like what he brings to the table and was a bit of a late bloomer. So, I think this could be a quality pickup for the Arizona staff in the long run. He fits in with what Jordan Paopao is looking for at the position, so it's a nice one for the Cats.

Tubelis and the NBA combine

Azuolas Tubelis had a productive day at the NBA combine during 5-on-5 action. A lot of players opted out of the 5-on-5 portion of the combine allowing players like Tubelis an opportunity to showcase their skills. The Arizona power forward went 5 for 11 from the field to finish with 11 points along with 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks in 20 minutes.

Transfer kicker

Arizona has added BYU transfer kicker Cash Peterman today. He is making the move after two seasons with the Cougars after limited playing time. He's appeared in three games throughout his career and was mostly used as a kickoff man. He has some impressive clips on his social media accounts of him kicking from distance, so there is some promise there. He'll add some depth to the group and is a Chandler High alum, so it keeps the in-state momentum going for UA. He'll have three seasons of eligibility with the Wildcats.

COMMITMENT: High 3-star WR Landon Bell completes flip from UW

Arizona scores another big commitment as former Washington commit Landon Bell has announced his pledge to the Wildcats today. The 6-foot-3 receiver from Liberty HS in Henderson, Nevada has put together an impressive offseason. I watched him again over the weekend and he's still just as impressive as earlier in the year. He's a big body who can do a lot of different things and will give the Wildcats another weapon at receiver. Things had soured a bit with the Huskies and ultimately he decided to back off that commitment after taking an official visit to UA.

He immediately jumps to the top of the commitment list for Arizona as the team continues its momentum to begin the summer.

"They just chop it up like they're my uncles and big brothers," Bell said about his relationship with the Arizona staff. "... I feel like the culture there is just nice. They bring a family energy, so I feel like as a man I want to grow up to that and adapt to that. It will help my overall game, because if I feel comfortable I'm gonna play comfortable and excel."

Update on Salpointe two-headed monster (Keona Wilhite and Elijah Rushing)

Hey guys, today I had the chance to go out to Salpointe and interview both Keona Wilhite and Elijah Rushing on their visits to Arizona, updates on their recruitment and more. I'll have details down below.

Keona Wilhite: As we all learned yesterday, Wilhite has committed to Arizona giving the Wildcats their first Salpointe player since Justin Holt was on campus. He talked about the visit and how he loved the culture around the program and seeing the vision the coaching staff had for his career in Tucson and at the NFL level.

Now, Wilhite has taken visits to UCLA and Oregon State. And although he is committed to Arizona, he will be taking his visit to Washington this weekend. On top of that, BYU has been pushing hard for him to take a visit over the last several months, but he has not schedule one yet. He plans to go to both BYU and Nebraska during the season at some point.

Overall, I think Arizona is in great position to sign him come National Signing Day and he is a great addition to the class.

Elijah Rushing: A few months ago, I would've said that Arizona had no chance at landing Rushing to its 2024 class. However, with his brother now at Arizona, Keona Wilhite committed to the Wildcats and the coaching staff going hard in his recruitment, I think UA is in great shape right now at having a shot and landing the high four-star recruit.

When talking to Rushing about his official visit he talked about the culture at Arizona and how things have changed over the last several years. And he hammered home the point of the players on the roster truly loving the coaching staff and wanting to be in Tucson. Plus, he enjoyed meeting and being around the players on the roster and seeing guys he went up against in high school.

Rushing went on to talk about how the Wildcats' coaching staff teaches you with a purpose and it isn't "Yoda" talk that some coaches give you.

Now, I think Oregon is very much in play and in the lead right now with Rushing calling the facilities "college football's Disneyland." However, I would put Arizona near them and Norte Dame with the Wildcats making massive strides in his recruitment.

COMMITMENTS: Apollo HS trio staying home at Arizona

Done deal. All three of Arizona's targets at Apollo HS in Glendale have committed to the Wildcats together today. A big coup for Jedd Fisch and his staff to get such a haul from one school.
