I made a stop at Long Beach Poly High School yesterday to watch that program's spring college showcase. Both Johnny Nansen and Jason Kaufusi were there keeping an eye on defensive end target Dominic Lolesio, but also present watching the practice was new UA commit Wendell Moe. The offensive lineman will be headed to Tucson in late June/early July after recently picking the Wildcats in a process that played out quickly. Moe says he is checking in at 6-foot-3 and 360 pounds right now, but he plans to cut some weight when he gets on campus. He doesn't carry his weight poorly, however, and he is eager to get to work with the strength staff. Moe has been through a lot of hardship in recent years and that took away his joy playing football for a time. He has had his love for the game rekindled and could be a very nice piece for the team in the future.
He says the plan is to come in at left guard where he feels he will have a chance to compete for playing time. I though you all would enjoy getting to know the big offensive lineman from California, so I spoke with him for a few minutes last night. You can watch my full interview above.
