Tate, Havrisik Earn Pac-12 Player of the Week Honors
Quarterback Khalil Tate becomes the first player in conference history to win Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week honors four straight weeks, while freshman kicker Lucas Havrisik earns Special Teams Player of the Week.

TUCSON, Ariz. – For the fourth straight week, Arizona quarterback Khalil Tate has been named the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon. He is the first player in the history of the conference to earn any player of the week honor four straight times. Tate is just the second player in league history to win the Offensive Player of the Week four times in the same season, joining USC quarterback Matt Barkley in 2011.
In addition, freshman placekicker Lucas Havrisik was named Special Teams Pac-12 Player of the Week. He is the first Arizona player to win Special Teams Player of the Week since Casey Skowron in 2015. Tate led Arizona to its fourth straight win Saturday versus No. 15 Washington State. The sophomore from Inglewood, California, rushed for 146 yards and one touchdown on 13 carries and threw for a career-high 275 yards and two touchdowns. The quarterback had an 82-yard rush in the win over the Cougars, which is the longest run by a quarterback in program history, and the team's longest play from scrimmage this season. Tate has one run of 70 or more yards in four straight games. He accounted for 421 yards of total offense against the Cougars, who entered the game holding teams to 120.1 rushing yards per game.
Tate had his finest game through the air against Washington State, tossing touchdown passes to tight end Jamie Nunley and wide receiver Shun Brown. He also completed a 68-yard pass to Nunley, which is Arizona's longest passing play of the season. For the month of October, Tate finished with 840 rushing yards, which is the most by any FBS player in a decade. Only two players, Melvin Gordon and Andre Williams, have rushed for more yards in a month since 2004. Tate also completed 71 percent of his passes in October, tossing six touchdown passes and 743 yards. He's rushed for at least 137 yards in four straight games against Colorado, UCLA, Washington State and California. He won Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week following each of those games.
Havrisik, a true freshman, connected on a 57-yard field goal as the first half expired Saturday against Washington State. He tied the school record for longest field goal made, tying Lee Pistor (at Iowa, 1977), Jon Prasuhn (vs. Pacific, 1995) and Max Zendejas (at Arizona State, 1985). Havrisik also averaged 63.5 yards per kickoff, with nine of the 10 going for touchbacks. The Wildcats have now won two player of the week honors in two straight weeks. Freshman linebacker Colin Schooler won Defensive Player of the Week last week to join Tate.
