As Arizona's focus begins to zero in on the 2021 class some more, there will soon be some more offers going out and the Wildcats made another new offer on Thursday. Four-star power forward Ben Gregg has added the Wildcats to his offer list after a conversation with head coach Sean Miller. The 6-foot-9 standout prospect from Clackamas, Oregon was named the Gatorade Player of the Year in his home state this season and his stock is certainly on the rise.
Gregg, who has already visited UA earlier in the process, is currently rated by Rivals.com as the 69th-best prospect in the 2021. It is going to be interesting to see how the rest of the process plays out for him since he likely would have been a popular attraction for college coaches during the spring recruiting season.
Much like five-star big man Nathan Bittle, getting Gregg out of Oregon might end up being the biggest task for any program on the outside such as UA. Oregon and Oregon State have both offered while Gonzaga, Virginia Tech and USC also remain heavily in the mix. He also has offers from Texas and Texas Tech as well.
Oregon State is the only program that has been able to get Gregg on campus for an official visit, but when he is allowed to do so he will get out and see some more schools. His visit to Arizona took place way back in 2018, so expect the Wildcats to try and push for him to take an official visit to Tucson at some point before he settles in and makes a decision.
Right the plan for Gregg is to come to a final decision about his recruitment some time early next year, but the process is still on the uptick for the four-star recruit so things could always change.
Gregg is a skilled big man with some similarities to Bittle and the two have gone head to head a couple times already in their native Oregon. The new UA target is capable of stepping outside and hitting jump shots while also having enough length to impact the game around the basket.
Whenever the travel ball season resumes Gregg is expected to play with the Oakland Soldiers on the Nike EYBL circuit giving the Wildcats another link to the four-star prospect considering UA has a strong relationship with that program.
