GAME THREAD: No. 14 Arizona vs Wake Forest (Wooden Legacy)

Arizona wraps up its trip to California tonight as the No. 14 Wildcats take on Wake Forest in Anaheim in the Wooden Legacy championship at Anaheim Arena. UA has had a tougher than expected week in SoCal, but Sean Miller mentioned how excited how his team was to play tonight and to play an ACC team.

Follow along throughout the game for updates and join the conversation as the Wildcats look to move to 9-0 on the year.

As a note, Stone Gettings will not play for Arizona tonight as he is in the concussion protocol after being involved in a collision Friday night.

Starters



1st half

- The ball finds Chase Jeter and he gets a bucket to get the scoring going for the Wildcats; Zeke Nnaji gets his first bucket as the Wildcats continue to work the ball to the bigs; Sarr hits a jumper for the Demon Deacons; Dylan Smith gives UA a 5-point lead with a 3-pointer; Sarr gets a dunk on the other end for WF; Jeter with another bucket in the lane and he now has 4 points; Sarr hits a jumper and he has a quick six points for Wake Forest; Nico Mannion is fouled and he hits both for his first two points of the game; White hits for the Demon Deacons and his 3-pointer cuts the UA lead to 2; Smith hits again from deep for the Wildcats; Brown hits a jumper for WF to cut into the UA lead [SCORE UPDATE: Arizona 14 Wake Forest 11 - 14:46]

- Childress hits two free throws out of the timeout; Jeter fouled and he hits a couple free throws and now has 6 points for UA; Brown hits a 3-pointer and the game is tied up; Johnson now hits a 3-pointer for the Demon Deacons and the Wildcats now trail by 3 points [SCORE UPDATE: Wake Forest 19 Arizona 16 - 11:51]

- Sarr with a couple free throws out of the timeout for WF; Sarr fouled again and he hits both free throws to give the Demon Deacons a 7-point lead; Max Hazzard ends the run by hitting a 3-pointer for the Wildcats; Hazzard hits again from deep for the Wildcats forcing a Wake Forest timeout; Smith gets a bucket for UA to get the lead back as Wake Forest has now gone cold missing its last seven shots [SCORE UPDATE: Arizona 24 Wake Forest 23 - 7:50]

- Jeter gets another bucket and he now has 8 points for UA as the lead is up to 3 for UA; Mannion hits for the Wildcats and UA is now on a 12-0 run; Jemarl Baker Jr. now hits for the Wildcats and it is a 14-0 run for the Wildcats; Childress gets a shot to fall and the lead is down to 4 after the 3-point play; Ira Lee hits off an offensive rebound for the Wildcats to push the lead back up to 6 points; Smith hits his third 3-pointer of the game and the lead is up to 9 points for the Wildcats [SCORE UPDATE: Arizona 35 Wake Forest 26 - 3:41]

- Sarr hits one of two from the line out of the timeout and he now has 11 points for Wake Forest; Hazzard continues his strong play as he makes a layup for the Wildcats to make it a 10-point game after he creates a turnover; Sarr continues to give Arizona issues as he makes a layup and he now has a game-high 13 points; Childress fouled and he hits both free throws and Arizona takes a timeout up 6; Smith hits a jumper for UA to push the lead back up to 8; Brown gets to the bucket for a layup and the lead is six points

2nd half

- Nnaji fouled and he makes both free throws to start the second half scoring for Arizona; Isaiah Mucius fouled by Mannion and he hits both free throws with both teams moving at a slower pace when it comes to scoring in this half; Smith hits his fourth 3-pointer of the game and he's fouled making it a 4-point play for the Wildcats; Josh Green gets his first bucket on a big dunk off a nice drive to the hoop [SCORE UPDATE: Arizona 47 Wake Forest 35 - 16:00]

- Childress hits two free throws out of the timeout to cut the UA lead to 10 points; Jeter with another bucket for the Wildcats and he now has 10 points after his jump hook; White hits a couple free throws for the Demon Deacons; Arizona goes to Jeter again and he gets another bucket for the Wildcats on a tough leaning layup plus he gets the foul and free throw making it a 13-point lead for UA – the Wildcats' largest lead tonight; Sarr hits a jumper for WF and he now has 15 points; Mannion hits another floater for the Wildcats to push the lead back up to 13; Jeter gets a dunk for the Wildcats and he now has 15 points; Sarr has 17 points after a dunk as his big performance continues for the Demon Deacons [SCORE UPDATE: Arizona 56 Wake Forest 43 - 11:26]

- Mucius gets a dunk for Wake Forest and the lead is back down to 11 points in favor of UA; Lee makes a layup and the lead is back up to 13 points for the Wildcats; Nnaji trips ups Childress who makes both free throws and sends Nnaji to the bench with four fouls; Mannion finds Green in transition after a steal for an Arizona bucket; after a missed 3-pointer, Green is fouled and he hits both free throws making it a 15-point lead for the Wildcats; Johnson makes a layup for Wake Forest cutting into the Arizona lead [SCORE UPDATE: Arizona 62 Wake Forest 49 - 7:51]

- Johnson complete the 3-point play after the timeout; Jeter now with 17 points as he gets another shot to fall for the Wildcats after cleaning up a Josh Green miss; Childress answers with a 3-pointer on the other end; Sarr fouled and he hits both free throws making it a 9-point game; Nnaji hits one of two from the line for UA; Childress hits a 3-pointer and he now has 17 points plus he cuts the UA lead down to 7 [SCORE UPDATE: Arizona 65 Wake Forest 58 - 3:43]

- Smith hits a free throw for the Wildcats making it an 8-point game; Ira Lee joins Zeke Nnaji on the bench with five fouls and Sarr makes one of two from the line after the foul making it a 7-point game; Johnson gets a transition layup for Wake Forest and the lead is down to 5 points now with a couple minutes left to play forcing a UA timeout; Mannion with a bucket to push the lead to 7 points again; Brown with a bucket on the other end for Wake Forest and the lead is back down to 5; Sarr fouled and he hits one of two from the line for WF; Josh Green with a couple key free throws to give UA some breathing room; Smith fouled as Wake Forest goes with some full-court pressure and he hits both free throws making it an 8-point lead; Childress hits a jumper for the Demon Deacons; Mannion hits one of two from the line for the Wildcats before UA eventually runs out the clock securing the 2019 Wooden Legacy championship.
