Earlier today 2021 point guard Isa Silva announced his plans to make his commitment decision public next Tuesday. Arizona offered the Sacramento, California-based recruit earlier in the process and had him out for a visit for the Red-Blue Game in September. However, I have been told that at this point the Wildcats have pulled themselves out of the race after learning of where the process was going with Kerr Kriisa several weeks ago.
The Wildcats believe they have their point guard situation settled for the future at this stage, so they saw no need in continuing to pursue the top-25 recruit. Right now it will be a major shock if Stanford isn't announced as the destination for Silva who has built a strong relationship with the coaching staff there. The Cardinal have long been the favorite in the process since moving early on him at the start of the process.
Although it was ultimately going to be difficult for any program to pull him away from Northern California, Arizona certainly was in a good position to do so. The Wildcats backing off sounds like it helped move things forward with his process and now he is set up to lock in his position with the Cardinal.
Here's an interview I conducted with Silva back in the winter talking about Arizona and its involvement with his recruitment.
