Arizona offered all the players listed above within the last day, so rather than simply go one by one I thought I would summarize my thoughts about the group and pull out some of what stands out to me about the new offers UA's coaches made in the 2021 class.
The two most significant recruits of the bunch are the two defensive backs from Southern California with Tucker and Williams both having the most impressive offers lists. Tucker has programs such as Colorado, Oregon State, Washington, Washington State, Notre Dame, Northwestern and Boise State on his list while Williams has offers from Arizona State, Colorado, Georgia, Nebraska, Kansas, Utah State and Fresno State in addition to others.
Both were offered by new defensive backs coach Greg Burns who also recruits Southern California for the Wildcats. Tucker could also play receiver at the next level, but at this point I would expect the Wildcats to recruit him as a cornerback. The Notre Dame and Washington offers are big for him and so is the Colorado offer since he has a relationship with Demetrice Martin since the defensive backs coach was at UA. It could be tough for the Wildcats to break into that top group, but it is still early in the process.
Williams has a solid offer list and he has continued to gain steam heading into the summer when it comes to his recruitment. The 6-foot-2 prospect has gained the attention of some notable programs already because of his natural abilities. He has plenty of range and athleticism as a member of the secondary plus he plays a position that will be a priority for the staff in the current cycle. Nebraska has quietly positioned itself well up to this point but it is hard to truly pinpoint where his recruitment is leaning at this stage. Arizona should be able to make up some ground, but he is someone who is on pace to graduate in December meaning he will have to make an earlier decision than other prospects in the class.
Jake Renda and Colby Powers are both tight ends and that is a position the coaching staff has been focusing on in the current class. UA has upped its offers to tight end prospects, but the recruits it has focused on most certainly have similar skill sets. Blocking is going to be a big part of whoever the Wildcats add at the tight end position and that is something both prospects have an understanding of heading into their senior seasons.
Renda is a quarterback who is transitioning to tight end this season and his New Jersey ties brought him onto the radar for Arizona since Noel Mazzone has plenty of relationships in that part of the country. He is still a bit raw as a tight end but there is talent there. Powers is another tight end with a quarterback background and like Renda he checks in at about 6-foot-5. He is a multi-sport athlete who also wants to play baseball so that makes his recruitment an interesting one as well.
Two junior college prospects picked up offers from Arizona in the last couple days and both Tavareon Martin-Scott and O'Tay Baker have the size that UA's staff is looking for in the front seven. Both players have pass rushing ability and will be interesting to track as the process moves ahead. The Wildcats have been a bit slower to offer junior college recruits in this class, but that has started to pick up in recent weeks.
