Other notable offers: Arizona State, Nebraska, Iowa, Iowa State, Michigan State, Indiana, Purdue, Virginia, West Virginia
Rundown: The Wildcats became the second program to get involved with Wisconsin offensive line prospect Marcus Mbow on Wednesday by offering him with Arizona still focusing on adding more offensive linemen. Offensive line coach Kyle DeVan has had a busy week and Mbow is just the latest offensive line prospect to pick up an offer from UA this week.
Arizona State offered him two weeks ago becoming the first program from the Pac-12 to do so. He has nearly 20 offers overall and several of them are from Power Five schools. The 6-foot-5 recruit has a bit of an interesting story in that he has never quite liked football but has continued to play the game, but after receiving interest from colleges it has changed his approach and as he as dedicated more focus to the sport he has started to excel.
So, there is still quite a bit of development to be done but he has an impressive skill set and it starts with his athleticism. He is another prospect along the offensive line who plays basketball on top of playing football and you can see his natural athletic abilities on film. Mbow has strong footwork and there is an aggressive quality about his game that stands out on tape.
Iowa was viewed as the favorite for a while, but Nebraska has jumped to the forefront of his recruitment now and he remains focused on a handful of programs. However, he is not in a rush to make a decision so the Wildcats have plenty of time to make their move in his recruitment.
So far, even before the offer, DeVan has done a good job of establishing a relationship with Mbow and Arizona should be one of the programs that he focuses on moving forward.
“I need to have built good relationships with the coaches,” Mbow recently told Devils Digest. “Also, a family atmosphere, I want that support. (A place) that can help me get to the next level. And having a positive mindset about the team, that’s another big thing for me.”
At this point there isn't a clear timeline for making a decision, but he has indicated that visits will be a priority and his hope is to make trips to see schools up close before deciding on a commitment.
