Other notable offers: Arizona State, Indiana, Kansas State, Iowa State, Arkansas, Cincinnati, Clemson, Missouri, Wake Forest
Rundown: Arizona has quietly continued to look for more options in the 2021 class. Right now it is still not clear exactly how much room the Wildcats will have but there is at least one spot still remaining in the team's 2021 recruiting class. The Wildcats have made no secret about where the priority is right now and guards have dominated the prospects UA continues to evaluate. One more wing player in the class to add an offer from UA is four-star New Jersey-based guard Shane Dezonie who added his offer from the Wildcats Tuesday morning. The 6-foot-5 prospect is set to play his final season at Brewster Academy in New Hampshire and he has continued to pick up steam as a prospect in recent months.
Arizona State offered him less than a month ago and now the Wildcats have decided to get involved. The four-star prospect, who currently ranks as the 84th-best prospect in the 2021 class, has a wide range of offers and admittedly wasn't looking at the Pac-12 before the Sun Devils came through. The word behind the scenes as of late has been that he is likely to end up at Kansas State, but there does seem to be some intrigue with playing across the country out west.
As a recruit he takes a lot of pride in his defense an that is something Sean Miller will always naturally gravitate toward. He fits what the Wildcats have prioritized as of late because of his ability to play and defend multiple perimeter positions. He does a good job of getting to the basket and he can hit shots from all over the floor. As Miller continues to focus on having enough depth to run a three-guard lineup it makes sense that the Wildcats would continue focus on perimeter players.
Four-star Seattle wing Shane Nowell continues to be considered an Arizona lean, but he has still waited on making his commitment official at this stage. It makes the offer to Dezonie an intriguing one since the feeling has been that Nowell is all but sealed for the Wildcats. This could put some pressure on him to make a decision soon, but there could also end up being room for Dezonie if he also wants to make the trek to Arizona for his college career.
What he said: "“My strength on defense is being a leader on defense. I feel like I could help my teammates because I really take pride in my defense. I feel that’s the main part of really winning games and championships is just playing good defense. If you lock down your man, they don’t score." – Shane Dezonie recently to Devils Digest
