Rivals250

The final Rivals250 rankings for 2023 dropped today, and Arizona has now signed its first Rivals250 offensive lineman since 2014. Raymond Pulido dropped just one spot and will finish his high school career ranked as the No. 234 prospect in the class. Jordan Poland (No. 141) was the last Rivals250 offensive lineman to sign with the Wildcats. There were no other major moves with Arizona's other signees.

2023 Polynesian Bowl

The Polynesian Bowl is set to take place this Friday and Arizona has some representatives on hand for the game as it did last year. Jedd Fisch and Brennan Carroll actually made their way out to Hawaii this week as well, so there is plenty of Wildcats representation in the islands.

Quarterback Brayden Dorman will get his opportunity to guide one of the teams and her's some shots of him from the week.

Linebacker Kamu Kaaihue is also part of one of the teams, and he has received some positive reviews for his work during practice so far.

Defensive lineman Julian Savaiinaea is also on hand in Honolulu this week, and below you can see some of the clips of him on the second day of practice in one-on-ones.

Arizona lands a commitment from top-35 2024 point guard Jamari Phillips. A really big addition for the Wildcats in the next class. He had been presumed to be headed to UCLA for a long time. Arizona was able to get him out on an official visit this weekend and it works perfectly as he pulls the trigger on an early decision.

Leviticus Su'a makes his commitment to Arizona public

All done. Leviticus Su'a announced his commitment to Arizona tonight at the Polynesian Bowl. The four-star linebacker already signed with the Wildcats in December and kept it quiet until today. He's now been announced as a signee by the program. A perfect fit for what Arizona needs and Johnny Nansen's defense. Huge late pickup for Jedd Fisch, Nansen and the staff.

Still checking to see if this is or isn't a PWO add, but Bakersfield College defensive lineman Armando Ramos IV is joining the Wildcats after committing today. Ramos is a Tucson native who played at Sahuaro High. I've seen some different numbers but he says he's 6-foot-2 and 285 pounds right now. Either way, the Wildcats still needed some more help along the defensive line and he gives the team added depth there.

Cruz Rushing

Florida safety Cruz Rushing is returning home to Tucson to finish his career with the Wildcats after one season in Gainesville where he walked on with the Gators. He did not make an appearance during his time at Florida. He is the older brother of star Salpointe junior edge rusher Elijah Rushing, so there is plenty of significance to this addition for the Wildcats. This will give the Wildcats an added element in their pursuit of Rushing, and in my opinion puts UA right in the mix for his commitment. The brothers do want to play together if at all possible at the next level. That is why Florida had been the favorite for Elijah when Cruz committed to play for the Gators.

Spotted on campus

Today while working on campus, I saw Arizona DC Johnny Nansen touring campus with former UNLV DC/cornerbacks coach Keith Heyward by the library close to the football stadium.

My guess is that he is a finalist for the job and is going over his plan for his position group. Heyward and Nansen were clearly in deep conversation.

Heyward has been a coach in the Pac-12 for a long time with stops at Oregon State, Washington, USC, Oregon and Cal. Right now he is at UNLV.

Here's his profile from the UNLV staff list:

Transfer portal tracker: 2022-23

I'll start this up now since there is likely to be plenty of movement both in and out of the program again this season/offseason. There have already been some departures from the team, so we'll do our best to track all of them here as they take place.

Oct. 18, 2022Defensive tackle JB Brown

Veteran Arizona defensive lineman JB Brown has decided to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal today after 5+ seasons at Arizona. Brown hasn't played a majority of the season in a few years and has had many things come up over the last few seasons that have not allowed him to put together a complete year. He opted out of the 2020 season preserving some of his eligibility before playing in only four games last season to preserve his redshirt season with the hopes of playing the entire year this year. A shoulder injury that required surgery in the summer put him on the shelf for the entirety of the 2022 season, and now he will look to play his final season elsewhere. This will open up a spot on the 85-man roster and give the Wildcats an opportunity to replace that spot on the team this offseason. Arizona has already removed him from the official roster.

Top Takeaways: Adia Barnes recaps tough road trip ahead ASU

Arizona is coming off a tough two-game stretch on the road that saw them get swept by Colorado and Utah, dropping the Wildcats to No. 19 in the country in the latest AP Poll.

Here are five takeaways from Adia Barnes press conference Wednesday afternoon.

Chase Randall (PWO)

Former Tucsonan Chase Randall will be joining the Wildcats as a preferred walk-on this spring. I've had the pleasure of covering him at the high school level when he was at CDO.

So, I wanted to let you guys know what to expect from him. Randall is a hard working player that was one of the top defensive players in Southern Arizona during his time in high school. He is more of an edge defensive lineman, but is a little undersized. However, he has a good motor and has been a proven leader on the football field.
