There are a couple Arizona targets making decisions in the coming days, so I wanted to give you all an update on them as it stands right now.
Top 6: Arizona, Washington, Cal, Stanford, Mississippi State, Oregon State
My prediction: Washington
Rundown: Washington had four-star Rivals250 wide receiver Rashid Williams out for an official visit over the weekend. Things went well, and he has suddenly moved up his commitment date to Thursday after previously indicating he would not be committing until July 21, his birthday. All signs point to the Huskies being the team to earn his pledge. He had not yet set up an official visit with the Wildcats yet, but he does/did have planned official visits to Cal and Oregon State set for June. UA jumped in early with the four-star prospect and he visited multiple times, but UW has gained a ton of momentum with its staff's ties back to California.
What he said about UA: "The recruiting definitely. I like the receiver coach too and the area around the school is really nice."
Top 3: Arizona, Northwestern, Colorado
My prediction: Northwestern
Rundown: Scottsdale-Saguaro cornerback Cole Shivers has been one of Arizona's top in-state targets in the cycle. The three-star recruit has been down to campus a bunch and has built a strong relationship with the staff. However, there has been a trend here recently of recruits taking official visits and committing right after that. The pressure of the transfer portal has things working a little bit different right now. Northwestern hosted a number of prospect on official visits last weekend and has gone on in impressive stretch of commitments in the last few days. That includes adding a pledge from UA offensive line target Alex Doost (Glendale-Mountain Ridge). Shivers is expected to follow suit when he makes his announcement this afternoon. At this point I would not expect the official visit at Arizona to take place as scheduled, but the program could eventually circle back and see if he'll come out later in the year.
What he said about UA: "I really like him [DeWayne Walker]. He teaches me a lot when I come down there, so I'm always learning something new. I just like the vibe they have down there. All the coaches, all the players. You can tell they're super tight. They're building something down there."
