The early signing period begins next week and as it stands right now Arizona has just one commitment in the 2020 class, four-star guard Dalen Terry. Sean Miller was asked about recruiting today and his expectations for the early signing period. He said he expects Arizona will sign more than one prospect during the early period but he did say the expectation has always been that the team would have a smaller class in the fall with many of the program's top priorities waiting until the spring to decide. As of this point he said the class will likely be four or five players when all is said and done by next summer meaning there could be transfers and grad transfers as part of that group.
Right now the options are starting to dry up a bit so it will be interesting to see how the Wildcats look next week. Puff Johnson has been considered an Arizona lean during different parts of his recruitment, but after his official visit to UNC over the weekend that tune has changed and the Tar Heels are likely to be the landing spot for the Pittsburgh native. Four-star guard Adam Miller is likely headed to Illinois while Minnesota big man Dawson Garcia cut the Wildcats a while back.
Kerwin Walton, who took an official visit to UA the same weekend as Johnson, is also up for the same spot at UNC meaning only one of them is more than likely bound for Chapel Hill. There are actually a group of players, including five-star wing Ziaire Williams, who have visited UNC and are essentially battling for two spots if they all end up wanting to go there. Walton has been quiet about his recruitment for the most part but he has taken a lot of visits and still has options on the table. The buzz lately has been that he is getting closer to making a decision after previously hoping to wait until December to announce his choice.
It's going to be an interesting week for UA.
