Maliki Crawford backed off his pledge to UCLA when that staff went through a coaching change on the defensive side of the ball. Part of the changes were the moves by Johnny Nansen and Jason Kaufsui to Arizona. Crawford has a connection with both coaches, and that has the Wildcats involved with the 6-foot-3 cornerback prospect from California. He already has official visits set up with USC, Cal and Washington but the Wildcats are not out of the running by any means. I spoke with him recently to get a feel for how the Wildcats stack up in the process, and UA has certainly become an appealing option for the three-star prospect.

“Those guys can definitely coach, and they’re real down-to-earth coaches, so that’s one thing that stands out to me. They love to win, and they made that very clear as soon as they gave me that first call with the whole staff as soon as they landed.”
