who was on campus over the weekend as you guys know was three-star athlete Lorenzo Burns from Temecula, California. The two-way player used his first official visit on a trip to Arizona and the Wildcats have quietly been pulling out front going into the trip. Nothing on his trip changed that and it still looks like this thing is headed for an Arizona commitment in January.
Burns told me today that Arizona's staff really pushed him for a commitment over the weekend, but he let them know he wants to wait it out just a little bit longer. He did reiterate that the family atmosphere around the program is something that continues to grab his attention. He said the time spent with players outside of the coaching staff was something that will be valuable to his thinking when it comes to the 'Cats.
He said all the answers were the same when talking with the players and it always came back to the coaching staff and how much the players like them. That left an impact. Burns will play cornerback at Arizona if he ends up going with the 'Cats and the chance to potentially compete early is another factor.
Burns said he knows he will visit Colorado in January and potentially Cal after that, but all signs continue to point to an Arizona commitment unless one of those visits blow him away. He said he wants to talk things over with this parents some more to make sure the way he's leaning is the good with them, so again it wouldn't surprise me if he ends up deciding sooner than planned.
