Offers: Washington State, Memphis, Houston, Colorado State, UTSA, Nevada, New Mexico State, North Texas, Texas State, Louisiana Lafayette

Rundown: Jayhvion Gipson fits into a couple different categories when it comes to prospects Arizona is seeking out at this point in the process. He's from Houston and he's an outside linebacker. Both of those elements continue to be a focus for the Wildcats. The recruitment of Houston-area prospects will always be in play with Kevin Sumlin at the helm and in this class the program has been focused on adding more linebackers into the mix with the need for some more depth after this season with three of its top players at the position all heading into their senior year.

Gipson has an interesting offer list but there is just one Power Five school among the group with Washington State being the biggest name on the list up to this point. The Cougars offered him a little over a month ago and since that point he has added offers from Memphis and New Mexico State.

He recently indicated that Wazzu, Memphis, Colorado State, Houston and Louisiana Lafayette have been the schools on his offer list standing out but the process is nowhere near being done. Now that Arizona has entered the picture I would expect the Wildcats to be among that unofficial top group as the staff continues to build a relationship with him.

As much as he's not in the process of making his decision right now he does plan on making a college choice before the start of the season and the hope is that he can make visits before that time.

When I turned on his film one thing I noticed was his ability to close on the ball carrier. There are plenty of highlights of him making up ground in a short amount of time to make tackles. He has a versatile skill set and doesn't show signs of struggling to cover in passing situations and there's an aggressiveness about his abilities as a tackler that stands out. Gipson, who is also a track athlete, is a playmaker and looks like someone who could be a solid addition to the linebacker group for UA should he take up the Wildcats on their offer.

He had 56 tackles, seven tackles for loss, a pair of sacks and a forced fumble during his junior season at Langham Creek.
