Positives -

6 turnovers when last year, we struggled with creating them.

Havrasik is actually 3-3 after hitting from 38, 43, and 53. Lol.

The offense does look explosive. Khalil has escapability and can keep his eyes down field. He has improved in his passing. We had some great play designs but missed on execution.

Our receivers, Joiner and Cunningham did well. Joiner still has to learn some technique but he's promising.

Frustrations -
We got picked apart running cover 3 against their empty backfield when rushing 3. I think that is something that you can mix in to surprise, but it shouldn't be a constant like it was. Good qb's can find the open holes given enough time. We need to jam more to have them take more time to develop their routes and give the rush a chance to get there. The preference of course would be to rush 4. Disguise where that 4th man comes from sometimes.

I liked that we finally adjusted to it with zero cover to give them a different look. We were getting picked apart anyway, why not give a pressure look.

One thing that still frustrates me about Tate is he's so cavalier at times about taking a loss ... Like it doesn't matter. I get that he's important, so at least he's smarter about trying to take on defenders to get extra years, but throw the ball away, don't just run out of bounds. He's improved as a passer, but still not efficient.

Felt confident in the comeback until that INT in the red zone. Absolute killer. 2nd and 5, he faked the handoff to Tilford and fired to a guy who wasn't really open. I wonder if it was a run/pass open and Tate saw pass, but just didn't see the safety didn't have to drop deep.

Frustrating loss because it's one that despite everything we did wrong we were still right there until the int and still almost pulled it out. It was a bad matchup in that their strengths matched up to our weaknesses. And they were smart about controlling the clock to limit our opportunities. It's a learning experience. I think Hawaii is better than people give them credit for especially with that redshirt freshman qb. I'd be interested to see how their season plays out.

I'm optimistic that we improve and still have a decent season.
