I was going to save this for the War Room but things are already starting to get rolling with this, so I'll post it now so you aren't thrown off. I've been getting a feel for where things are at with Arizona heading into next week's early signing period. It was basically reiterated to me that 18 is the number Arizona is going to have to work with one way or another in this class. That doesn't mean it won't take more than 18 recruits it just means they have to figure out a way to get all the recruits they want to fit within that number.
I was told this yesterday and heard it again today that essentially "it'll get figured out" is how this thing is going to play out over the next week or so. It came with essentially a wink and a nod meaning the class you see today might not look like the class that eventually gets signed. For the most part you can assume any "decommitments" that come up here in the next few days or weeks are more than likely not actual decommitments. The Wildcats might take some heat here soon for what sounds like might go down if this all becomes public, but not approaching it this way cost the program after the 2014 season. The staff was too nice then and will probably be less nice now from the sounds of it.
So if over the next week you see recruits start to back away from their pledges just know it probably has more to do with Arizona than it does the recruit wanting to go elsewhere. I could see a few more guys being asked to grey shirt or even walk-on, but there are still some things actually being figured out and everything isn't as clear – even to the staff – as you all would want it to be. It should be an interesting next few days.
