GAME THREAD: Arizona vs SMU

Arizona is back in action tonight trying to get back on the winning track after last night's loss to NC State. Western Kentucky beat Purdue, so if the Wildcats win tonight they will take on the Hilltoppers. UA heads into tonight's game as a 7.5 favorite but SMU has some impressive scorers so it makes sense.

Arizona is going with Dylan Smith on the wing again tonight in the starting lineup along with PJC, Trier, Ayton and Ristic

1st half

- Trier to Ayton for an easy bucket to get things going for Arizona; Ayton with the baseline fadeaway to give Arizona the early 4-0 lead; Dylan Smith with a 3-pointer as Arizona comes out hot; SMU finally gets a shot to fall on a put back to get on the board; Smith with a couple free throws to extend the Arizona lead; SMU hits a 3-pointer followed by a PJC 3 to extend the lead [SCORE UPDATE: Arizona 12 SMU 5 - 15:26 1st]

- Trier with a bucket out of the timeout; Ayton fouled and he knocks down of the free throws; 3-pointer from Emelogu cuts into the Arizona lead after a put-back from Landrum; Ira Lee with the dunk to help push the lead back up for UA; Shake Milton with the layup as things get moving a little more now [SCORE UPDATE: Arizona 17 SMU 12 - 11:58 1st]

- Dusan with the bucket in the paint out of the timeout; Ristic with another bucket to extend the lead; Emelogu with his third 3-pointer of the game to cut into the lead; Jarrey Foster with a 3-pointer now as SMU is right back in this thing even though it hasn't shot the ball well overall from the field; Arizona takes a timeout after another Emelogu bucket for his 13th point and the game sitting at 21-20 with SMU on an 8-0 run; Jimmy Whitt hits a jumper to give SMU the lead; Ira Lee off the assists from Ayton and the Wildcats take the lead back; Emelogu ties it up with a free throw; Shake Milton gives the Mustangs back the lead; Trier with a layup and it's all tied up again [SCORE UPDATE: Arizona 25 SMU 25 - 3:16 1st]

- Trier with a 3-pointer out of the timeout to give the Wildcats the lead back; Jarrey Foster with a layup to cut into the Arizona lead; Douglas tips it in to give SMU the lead 29-28; Arizona now with 9 turnovers to 3 for SMU; Trier with a couple free throws after a Foster free throw and it's all tied up with under a minute to go; Ira Lee makes a free throw to give Arizona the lead with 10 seconds to go

2nd half

- Ristic starts things off with a layup; Chargois hits two 3-pointers and Ayton gets a dunk; Trier hits a jumper; Chargois going off to start the second half as he has back-to-back layups and follows it up with a free throw to complete the and-one play as SMU has the lead; Emelogu hits a 3-pointer to extend the lead even more and he has 17 points and Miller is not happy [SCORE UPDATE: Arizona 37 SMU 44 - 15:29 2nd]

- Trier with a free throw out of the timeout; Whitt hits the jumper from the top of the key to keep it moving for SMU; Emelogu hits a 3-pointer to make it an 11-point lead for SMU; PJC with a jumper to cut it back down to single digits; Pinder fouls Shake Milton after the TO and Milton hits the free throws; Ayton fouled and he hits both free throws [SCORE UPDATE: Arizona 42 SMU 51 - 11:58 2nd]

- Trier hits a 3-pointer out of the timeout to trim the SMU lead, big shot for Arizona; Ayton with a bucket to trim the lead even more; Trier off the assist from Akot to cut the lead to two points; Ayton fouled and hits both free throws to tie it up at 51; Trier layup gives the Wildcats back the lead and all the momentum [SCORE UPDATE: Arizona 53 SMU 51 - 7:58 2nd]

- Chargois makes one of his free throw attempts to pull SMU within one; Shake Milton takes two free throws to retake the lead; Ayton with a big dunk to give UA the lead; Milton gets a bucket and gives SMU back the lead; Landrum with a bucket to extend the SMU lead; Ayton gets a bucket taken away as he had the ball in his hand with the shot clock at zero; Jimmy Whitt with a dunk and Ayton follows that up with a dunk of his own; Big block from Ayton sends it into the last timeout [SCORE UPDATE: Arizona 57 SMU 60 - 2:26 2nd]

- Pinder fouls Whitt and SMU extends its lead after the two free throws; Ayton fouls Milton and he makes both free throws forcing an Arizona timeout with the Wildcats down 64-57; Trier hits a big 3-pointer to pull the Wildcats within four points; Milton knocks down a couple free throws with Arizona having to foul
