Arizona unveiled its Name, Image and Likeness program to help aid its athletes with the NCAA expected to enact its new NIL rules that will allow college athletes to profit off their likeness beginning in the 2021-2022 academic year. Other schools have already started to set up their own programs and now Arizona has joined in with its "Arizona EDGE" program.
The focus of the program will be:
- Personal Brand Management and Marketing
- Business Development and Entrepreneurship
- Financial Literacy
- Networking
- Business Law
The program is a partnership with UA's Eller College of Management.
"Here at the U of A, the platform and the help we are given is amazing," Arizona freshman defensive lineman Dion Wilson Jr. said in a statement. "Having the chance to be a part of something bigger than myself is important. Arizona Athletics creating the Arizona Edge program to assist student-athletes with their NIL is exciting and a big part of development for myself and other student-athletes. Our fan base, the environment of Tucson and Arizona Athletics are dedicated to development, and that creates endless opportunities for student-athletes to be successful. Since I have arrived on campus, Arizona Athletics has continuously showed they want their student-athletes to have a bright future in the long run."
