Arizona continues to focus on California prospects this week and I wanted to update you all on an interesting new offer that went out within the last 24 hours. The Wildcats have been focused on California recently and that has continued this week with a few California-based recruits picking up offers from UA's coaches.

Northern California has suddenly had a surge of increase from UA's staff as the Wildcats have some connections to the region. Here's a closer look at the newest offer in Northern California that UA has made.

Los Gatos, California linebacker Will Schweitzer added an offer from the Wildcats last night as his stock continues to rise. The high three-star prospect is another versatile recruit out west who has a chance to fit in at a few different positions. He's played a lot of defensive end with his hand in the ground but he projects as linebacker in college to most programs and that is where the Wildcats will likely have him projected on their board. He has also played tight end throughout his high school career.

Arizona outside receivers coach/area recruiter Taylor Mazzone and outside linebackers coach Andy Buh are expected to lead the recruitment of Schweitzer moving forward and there will be plenty of competition.

The 6-foot-4 prospect has gained attention from across the country and he is nearing the 20-offer threshold now. He now has five Pac-12 offers on his list with UA coming board joining Cal, Oregon State, Utah and Washington State. He also has Power Five offers from Arkansas, TCU, Nebraska, Michigan State, Duke and Virginia Tech among others. Boise State, San Diego State, San Jose State, Wyoming and UNLV have also offered him at this point. Plus he has an offer from Harvard as well.

Keeping him away from Cal could be the biggest task for any of the other programs on his list, but he has been open about the process and has visited a number of schools as well including Arizona State. UA getting him on campus could end up being a big part of its pursuit in his recruitment, but now the staff can move forward having offered him.

Schweitzer finished his junior season at Los Gatos High with 130 tackles and three interceptions. He's still too light to have a major impact at the defensive end spot at the college level after watching his film, but he shows an impressive ability to make plays in the backfield because of his speed. I like his instincts at linebacker and he has some pretty good speed at the position.
