Scottie Graham mentioned it during his conversation with the media and it is the reality of recruiting in 2021. The various 7-on-7 programs and coaches/coordinators matter in the recruiting process. Much like on the basketball side with AAU coaches and programs, 7v7 programs hold a ton of weight with prospects. Right now it's more than high school coaches do in a lot of ways. That is especially important in California where without a high school football season trainers and 7v7 programs have become "the" thing for recruits. Like it or not, college coaching staffs have to have good relationships with these programs and coaches and program directors to land prospects.
So, it's a positive thing that some of the top 7v7 programs are starting to take notice of what Arizona is doing.
TMP (Northern California) and Premium (SoCal) are two of the top 7v7 programs in the state. TMP has alums like Ian Book and Najee Harris while nearly any top skill player you can name in Southern California is part of the Premium program. Lathan Ransom even spent some time with that team. Throw in a program like Tucson Turf and it's important for Arizona's coaches to be close with these programs and build relationships with them.
I don't remember seeing comments like the ones you're seeing above during the last couple regimes so that is a positive thing for the Wildcats. Landing one prospect from these types of teams can have a domino effect leading to a pipeline. Isaiah Rutherford is one TMP alum and that is a good start.
Viewing these programs as what they are and not treating them as outsiders without any influence is going to be important for Fisch and his staff and so far it looks like the noise being created by his staff is paying off.
