California offensive lineman Thomas Cole has trimmed his list to five schools and Arizona has made the cut. The high three-star prospect would easily be the top recruit in Arizona's 2021 class and he is one of the top offensive linemen in the state. He has over 20 offers and most of his list is made up of Power Five schools so Arizona making the cut is significant.

Four Pac-12 schools made the list for the recruit from San Luis Obispo as Arizona is joined by UCLA, Cal and Oregon State on his new list along with Michigan from the Big Ten. The Wildcats have done a good job building a relationship with him and he has built a strong bond with offensive line coach Kyle DeVan.

There were some significant cuts to his list from notable programs including Arizona State, Baylor, Colorado, Michigan State, Northwestern, Utah and Virginia plus several Ivy League schools.

Arizona is a school he has not been able to visit yet, so it's difficult to imagine him picking the Wildcats right at this moment but he does want to get out and see the school. At this point he is not expected to make a choice until he can see Arizona and Michigan so the Wildcats are very much in play and have done a good job positioning themselves well so far.

"(The) majority of it is my relationship with the coaches," Cole recently told Wildcat Report about what will be important for him in determining his final choice. "I feel like the rest will fall into place. But passionate fans and a quality program are always a factor."

The 6-foot-7 prospect is a converted tight end and he plays defense as well so he has plenty of versatility. His defensive stats from last season are actually pretty eye popping as he had 99 tackles, 31 tackles for loss and 17 sacks. Arizona, like every other program involved, wants him on offense however. He certainly still has some work to do from a technique perspective but the foundation is there for a high level offensive lineman.
