So I'm out here in Vegas at the adidas 7v7 national tournament so there's teams from all over the country here. I took time to really watch the Texas recruits since that's new for me as Rodriguez and Arizona haven't done that much during his time in Tucson. I did speak with some others from other areas as well, but there have been two things that have stood out to me this weekend. First, Chris Singletary is putting in some work right now. A lot of the new offers that have gone out have been facilitated by him and he is the one really doing the heavy lifting right now for the coaches.
Even the Texas guys have said they have talked more with Singletary than they have Theron Aych. I was definitely under the impression it would have been the other way around considering Aych's ties to Texas but Singletary is really leading the charge right now with the early offers and taking on a big part of that workload.
Second, it is going to be sooooo hard for Arizona to get these kids out of Texas. I asked about Arizona and there was some reaction but when you ask about Texas schools they turn into someone else and really open up. There's been plenty of talk about family and not wanting to play far away from their moms. This was the big reason Rodriguez went away from Texas, so it will be interesting to see how it all comes together with the Texas recruiting. If I'm just being honest there is not much of a buzz about UA out there right now talking to recruits and that could mean this process takes a bit longer to come together, but as we have seen in the past that might not be such a bad thing.
UA has been slower to put out offers and only recently started to attack it more. I'm interested to see how things change and shift for 2018.
