It has been one of the strangest recruitments I've seen but the plan is for five-star point guard Kobi Simmons to announce his decision tomorrow. At this stage it would be a surprise if a name other than Arizona comes out of his mouth when he announces his college. Now that is different from what I have said a few days ago, but it has taken time to get bearings on this situation.

Kentucky dropped out a while back and Ohio State, even now that it has a spot open with Austin Grandstaff transferring, is not looking at him anymore either. UNLV was going to be the landing spot then Dave Rice went and got himself let go. That leaves Arizona.

Arizona has not always been hard on him but Book Richardson has continued to stay up with Simmons throughout his recruitment and now that everyone has dropped out and UNLV has no coach - well, here you have the Wildcats expected to get a five-star prospect right in their lap.

It's not supposed to be this easy and there is still a long way until he can sign his NLI in April, but it is certainly a strange situation. To commit to a school sight unseen is different on the basketball side, but that is exactly how this one is going to work out. Once UNLV gets its coaching situation figured out it will almost assuredly make a run at him this spring, but at this point Arizona is going to be the place.

Since it will come up, this will not change anything with Arizona's pursuit of Josh Jackson. The Wildcats still want him and because he is so versatile it can still work with Simmons in the fold.

There is a lot going on here and it is definitely strange to see a program from the outside looking in go to the top spot in such a short time, but this is Kobi Simmons after all.
