Arizona has a lot of stuff going on right now off the field and one of those things is a Title IX lawsuit by the victim in the Orlando Bradford domestic violence case that eventually landed the former UA running back behind bars. Rich Rodriguez and his wife, Rita, were included in the federal lawsuit with the belief that the former UA head coach and his wife were aware of violence against women from Bradford before he was arrested and dismissed from the team.
Lawyers for the victim and Rodriguez's attorneys have now filed documents to get the one-time head coach and his wife dismissed from the case believing what they believed to be true was not accurate.
The victim's lawyer said she believed information from Melissa Wilhelmsen, the former office assistant who filed a notice of claims against Rodriguez for running a hostile workplace. Rodriguez was then fired by the program. The lawyer, Isabel Humphrey, now says the information provided by Wilhelmsen was not accurate and she believes Rodriguez did not know about the previous violence from Bradford until the UA running back was arrested and promptly dismissed from the team.
This is obviously a big deal and only adds some validity to people who believe the idea that Dave Heeke and those with influence within the program were simply looking for a reason to fire Rodriguez rather than doing their due diligence to look into the claims being made by his former assistant.
