Arizona receiver Jamarye Joiner is set to have surgery on his foot to repair an injury that kept him out of the short spring the Wildcats had on the field back in March. Joiner did not participate in any of the practices and had to work off to the side while wearing a walking boot. Assuming the surgery goes as expected he will likely be sidelined for more than a month as he recovers. The benefit of having the surgery right now is that he should have plenty of time to make a full recovery before the start camp – assuming of course that the schedule remains the same under the current circumstances.

Joiner is in line to be the team's top returning receiver this year after having a successful first season at his new position. He had a strong finish to the 2019 season with his best overall performance coming in the final game of the year against Arizona State when he caught seven passes for 140 yards and two touchdowns.

The Tucson native led the Wildcats with 552 receiving yards and five touchdowns to go with 34 catches last season as he established himself as the future No. 1 option for Arizona.

UPDATE: Joiner says he has had successful surgery this afternoon so now the process of recovery will begin. He should be ready to go by July without any setbacks.
