Think about all the great quarterbacks that have come out of Texas. Now think about how none of them have more passing yards than Grant Gunnell. The Arizona quarterback commit finally moved into the top spot in Texas football history as he now sits alone at the top of the career passing yards list after tonight. He accomplished the feat on Senior Night at St. Pius X.
It's pretty crazy when you really think about it. I get that the talent he's playing every week isn't amazing with Division I players on the other side, but he plays enough of those teams once the playoffs arrive to make this a legitimate record. You don't pass for that many yards on accident. And, it's still Texas where there is a lot of talent.
I was out at the Roosevelt/Norco game in SoCal and I caught up with UA wideout commit Jalen Johnson who is plenty happy to have someone like Gunnell throwing him the ball in the future.
