Arizona is in action against another team for the first time tonight with Western New Mexico in McKale Center as the Wildcats host their first of two exhibitions this week. Some news took place before the game with Ira Lee's suspension stemming from his DUI citation this summer being released as he will be suspended for the opener but will play tonight.
Chase Jeter is sitting out tonight's exhibition with an injury.

1st half
- Arizona allowed the first bucket of the game, but quickly settled in with a nice string of play by Brandon Williams who leads all scorers at the first media timeout. The Wildcats have really been moving trying to work in transition early in the game and defense has been strong with UA's talent really showing early on. UA opened things up with a 21-2 run forcing WNMU to take at timeout just ahead of the second media timeout [SCORE UPDATE: Arizona 21 WNMU 2 - 12:18 1st half]
- Arizona's reserve group hasn't looked as strong as the starting unit, but it's a group that is learning to play with each other. WNMU was able to get a three-point play out of the timeout with its big man Alfredo Rodriguez getting the score and foul call. Rodriguez with some impressive defense plays with a couple blocks here during this stretch of the game creating some issues in the paint for the Wildcats. - A strong stretch for Brandon Randolph here as he gets a 3-point bucket and a foul plus a nice assist to Ryan Luther as the Wildcats continue to extend the lead on a 12-0 run. Ira Lee having some issues with fouls again to start this year as he gets his second on a play in the paint on Jon-Reese Woodson who makes one of his two free throws; Emmanuel Akot keeps the offensive production going for the Wildcats with a 3-pointer from the right wing as UA is currently shooting 60 percent from deep to open this game. Randolph gets a leak out layup and the Wildcats are up really big heading into the break

- Justin Coleman with a strong take to the hoop to open the second half for the Wildcats. Eddie Giron gets fouled and makes the bucket for the first WNMU points of the half. Randolph gets fouled and makes one of two from the line. - Wille McCray hits WNMU's first 3-pointer of the game to make it a 28-point lead for the Wildcats. Devonaire Doutrive gets fouled and misses the first while Emmanuel Akot gets called for a lane violation on the second shot. Emmanuel Akot hits a corner 3-pointer to get something going for the Wildcats in this half offensively. Luther gets fouled and makes one of two from the line. Lee hits another jumper and that's followed with a nice take to the basket for Williams who also draws the foul but he misses the free throw. Tony Avalos gets a bucket and Muniz follows that up with steal and breakaway layup plus a foul as WMNU is turning some defense into offense now. Luther with a 3-pointer for Arizona and he's looking for the ball again. Luther with a nice layup after cleaning up his own miss as UA's lead gets pushed to 40 here with about 5 minutes to play. Akot passes up an open 3-pointer and hits Luther who is more wide open and Luther hits it to extend the lead. Avalos gets a layup on the other side. Doutrive gets fouled and makes both free throws.
