GAME THREAD: Arizona vs Cal (Homecoming)

Arizona is back in action today and the Wildcats will face a depleted Cal squad that is dealing with COVID-19 protocol issues this weekend. The pressure will now be on the Wildcats to pick up a win against a shorthanded squad, and it will be interesting to see the response. I'll have updates from the press box at Arizona Stadium while I encourage you all to join the conversation throughout the game.

PREGAME

- At this point Chase Garbers has not been out on the field and the belief is that he will not play today. There has been no confirmation that he has been part of the group of players out because of the COVID-19 issues but at this point Ryan Glover is being prepped to start at quarterback for the Golden Bears.

1st HALF

Coin toss: Arizona wins, defers

DRIVE #1 (Cal/own 25)

Key plays

• Christopher Brooks picks up 5 yards on the first play

• Damien Moore loses 4 yards on 3rd down as he's brought down by Trevon Mason and Cal is forced to punt

DRIVE #2 (Arizona/own 22)

Key plays

• Tayvian Cunningham picks up 30 yards on an end-around play for the Wildcats

• Will Plummer gets free and picks up 17 yards with a rush

• A desperation throw from Plummer to Anthony Simpson for 8 yards keeps the drive alive as it moves the chains

• Plummer picked off by Evan Tattersall on a pass that was tipped inside the red zone

DRIVE #3 (Cal/own 18)

Key plays

• Moore runs for 7 yards but there's a holding call on the Golden Bears to open the drive

• Ryan Glover hits Kekoa Crawford for 17 yards

• Glover finds Justin Richard Baker for 13 yards on the next play

• Cal ultimately has to punt after a couple incompletions and it goes for 37 yards
