It is announcement day for a pair of Arizona targets. Linebacker Eoghan Kerry from Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California will be making his decision this morning and Arizona is part of his top 5 that was released ahead of his announcement. He visited Arizona last week before taking a trip to Texas. He raved about his visit to Austin. He made that trip without having an offer from the Longhorns, but when he arrived he picked up that offer. It changed his recruitment and pushed him to make a decision. At this stage he is expected to pick UT over Arizona, UCLA, Colorado and Howard. If not for the Texas offer he would have been picking between the Wildcats and Bruins, but once he added the offer from Texas his recruitment was all but wrapped up.

I watched him during the spring and he will have to make some improvements, especially in coverage, but he plays for one of the best high school teams in the country and has plenty of talent. He would have been a nice fit for the Wildcats at the outside linebacker spot with his size and ability to play downhill.

Travis Gray has been one of Arizona's top priorities over the course of the cycle. Jedd Fisch and the staff offered him early on and made it no secret that he is who the coaches wanted at offensive tackle for the future. Gray made an "unofficial" unofficial visit back in the spring and then took an official visit to Arizona in June. The Wildcats had been the clear leader for the Colorado native up until recently when his hometown program decided to offer. Colorado offered and had him out on an unofficial visit last week changing his recruitment. The Buffaloes have all the momentum heading into his afternoon announcement, and at this point it would be a surprise if he picks the Wildcats.

It is unfortunate, but when he decided to continue pushing back his commitment date it left the door open for other programs to make a move. It's not that he was waiting for the Colorado offer, specifically, but he was certainly looking to continue adding offers despite having Arizona in that top spot. The hope for UA had been to team up Gray with Colorado native Grayson Stovall, who was the first commit in the class. Stovall now lives in Arizona, but he and Gray have a connection through their time together in Colorado.

One thing that has helped CU is that Gray trains with an alum of the program and makes no secret about the love he has for his alma mater. There's no way around it. If Gray picks the Buffaloes it's a significant blow for the Wildcats. There was a lot of effort put into his recruitment by the coaching staff.
