It's a done deal. Not official yet, but Detroit Tigers third base coach Chip Hale will be taking over as head coach at his alma mater Arizona. Dave Lawn is expected to remain on staff and return to his previous role as pitching coach for the Wildcats. Hale and Dave Heeke had a two-hour interview session yesterday that ultimately led to the decision to agree to a deal today. An official announcement is expected at some point today.
The decision fits with UA's other previous coaching moves that have led to alumni being heavily involved in other sports including football, basketball and softball.
