My first opportunity to attend practice and see for myself will come this week, but two freshmen I have heard are off to a good start so far are offensive lineman Josh Baker and linebacker DJ (Derick) Mourning. Grant Gunnell mentioned Baker this week as an impressive newcomer while Kevin Sumlin called out Mourning and his fit on the inside as a linebacker. Mourning is the more likely of the two to see extensive playing time right now and while he came up as an outside linebacker the bigger need for him right now is on the inside. The plan would be to play him next to Anthony Pandy on the inside. Derrion Clark is another option inside. It's good news for UA that Mourning has had a nice start since the staff will need him to pick things up quickly and help add some depth to the position. I'll be interested to get a look at him and the others for myself this week.
