Arizona came through with its first couple offers of the live period as things come to an end today. There will likely be some more to come out of this week when all is said and done, but both guys offered were prospects the Wildcats evaluated throughout the week in Vegas.
CJ Walker is right at the top of my list of favorite guys to watch this travel/camp season. I loved him at the Pangos All-American Camp, but Arizona had not yet picked up the interest with him at that point. He was very good there and had one of the best weekends. This week he had another strong week capping a good live period run that has him moving up recruiting lists and now has Arizona officially involved. I spoke to him yesterday before he got the offer and while he didn't want to give up too much about his recruitment he is certainly interested. I heard from another source close to Walker that Arizona stands a very good shot of landing the Orlando native. Sean Miller watched him yesterday and was planning to offer after the game, but Walker got a little dinged up so the staff waited until today to get that offer out.
He's an extremely versatile prospect and had a really good battle with Ziaire Williams this weekend that we'll have highlights of later. He's someone I would expect Arizona to turn the intensity up on moving forward. Walker said he's hopeful he can get out on a visit to Arizona soon. He played high school ball with Nassir Little and Walker reminds me a bit of a lite version of the former five-star recruit. There is just a non-stop energy he plays with and he has the skill and size to really play a few different positions.
Quinones is someone we caught glimpses of at the Pangos Camp as well and he was someone Arizona watched quite a bit this week. We didn't get as good of a look at him as we would have liked but he is someone who has been an impressive prospect to those who have watched him more than I have this summer. Arizona wants to continue to have length all over the floor and the New Jersey-based recruit has good size at the guard position.
