Arizona has continued targeting some of the top recruits in the country and things are starting to heat up with most of the staff now in Tucson and able to get to work. The Wildcats have started to become more active with 2022 recruits considering that cycle will go into full swing in the coming weeks. Wednesday that included an offer to one of the most heavily-recruited prospects in the country plus another meaningful offer to another top-level recruit in the class.

Here's a rundown of the latest UA offers to go out from Jedd Fisch's staff this week.

Notable offers: Arizona State, Cal, Oregon, Stanford, USC, Washington, Oregon State, Utah, UCLA, Washington State, Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Texas, Texas A&M

Rundown: Arizona made its most notable offer under its new head coach on Wednesday as the Wildcats decided to offer California athlete (receiver/safety) CJ Williams who is now closing in on 50 offers overall. he is one of the top recruits in the country and is an elite prospect with options to play at many schools across the country. UA is a bit late to the party with the former coaching staff having not offered him. Arizona is the 11th Pac-12 program to offer the Santa Ana-Mater Dei standout player. Colorado is the only school in the conference that has not yet decided to offer him. He is currently rated as the 23rd-best recruit in the class, the second-best 2022 prospect in California and the No. 2 receiver in the class as well.

Offering recruits like Williams is starting to become a trend for Fisch and his staff with the Wildcats unafraid to jump into some big-time recruitments with its new staff. Receivers coach Kevin Cummings and quarterbacks coach/lead recruiter Jimmie Dougherty will guide the pursuit of Williams for Arizona and they will certainly have their work cut out for them. He has expressed some excitement about the offer, however, so that is at least a nice starting point for the Arizona coaches.

Williams has good size for the position and is simply one of the best high school players in the country right now. He previously narrowed his list down to 16 programs, so UA will have to find a way to work its way onto his list as he continues to make his way through the process.

"He had a phenomenal sophomore season on a loaded Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei team, he's as smooth as any receiver in this class and he has excellent hands," Rivals.com national analyst Adam Gorney previously wrote about the new UA target. "Williams is a terrific route-runner, he has speed to separate on deep routes and he's physical, so cornerbacks cannot jam him at the line of scrimmage. He's not as filled out as 2019 Mater Dei five-star Bru McCoy, but he's similar in that he's jacked up even at a young age, but he's probably a better playmaker and smoother as a runner. Right now, Williams is ranked as the second-best receiver in the class and he should remain in five-star consideration moving forward."

Williams is originally from Tuscaloosa, Alabama so the Crimson Tide might be difficult to beat in the end but Steve Sarkisian was his lead recruiter so that could bring Texas back into the mix. USC has remained in the picture as well so it will be an interesting recruitment to see play out in the coming months. Arizona wants to be part of that process and is now officially entering its name into consideration by offering him.

Notable offers: Arizona State, Colorado, LSU, Florida State, Michigan State, Tennessee

Rundown: In addition to offering Williams, the Wildcats also offered another SoCal-based recruit as defensive end/linebacker Mathias Malaki-Donaldson added an offer from the Wildcats on Wednesday. He is another prospect with plenty of attention already as a junior as he holds several Power Five offers including a couple from Pac-12 programs such as Arizona State and Colorado plus offers from LSU and Florida State among others. Though he is not rated as high as Williams, he is another high-level prospect in the class and someone with a ton of potential as a defensive player. I was able to get a glimpse of him at the Rivals Camp last year and he is certainly impressive already as a defensive player.

He was previously at Narbonne High School in Los Angeles, which is where UA linebacker Anthony Pandy played, but he has since moved to Oaks Christian High School which is no stranger to producing Power Five talent. The Wildcats are having defensive line coach Ricky Hunley lead the recruitment and he is the one who made the offer on Wednesday.

He has impressive length and while he will need to put on more weight at the next level he has the athleticism to be an early-impact player in college making him an intriguing prospect in this process. He has already come out earlier in the recruiting process to say that LSU is his dream school so that program could ultimately be difficult to beat, but Arizona is going to try and do its best to keep him closer to home. Malaki-Donaldson has actually trained with former UA defensive line coach Iona Uiagallelei so there is somewhat of a connection to the program in the regard.

"The 2022 weakside defensive end is one of the more interesting prospects in the West region because of his length and athleticism," Gorney previously wrote. "In many ways, he looks like a small forward in basketball with long arms, a skinny frame and bouncy athletic ability. It will be interesting to see if he can keep gaining weight, but there’s no doubt he’s what a lot of college coaches are looking for in that hybrid position: someone who can rush off the edge or drop back in coverage."
