Rundown: Arizona has gone through some ebbs and flows with recruiting and sending new offers in recent weeks. The attention is mostly on the 2022 class as this stage and there has been a lot of emphasis on offering and pursuing highly-rated juniors now that the season has started for many of those players. The latest recruit to pick up an offer from Arizona has seen a rush of Pac-12 schools get involved over the last month. Most of his recent offers have come from schools on the West Coast and Arizona decided to jump into the picture with an offer Friday.

Houston-Clear Lake cornerback prospect Julian Humphrey has gained plenty of steam as a notable prospect in the 2022 class and he is currently rated as the 188th-best recruit in his class. That has led to more than 20 offers overall with plenty of notable programs now in the mix and working to add his commitment. Washington, Washington State and Colorado are a couple of his other recent offers as Pac-12 schools have started to piggyback on one another in offering the four-star recruit from the Lone Star State.

Arizona, of course, has plenty of ties to the Houston area and will always heavily target that region so it is no shock that the Wildcats are getting involved with the standout 6-foot prospect. UA inside receivers coach Theron Aych has had plenty of success on the recruiting side as of late with his work in the Louisiana standing out, and he will lead the recruitment of Humphrey for the program. He will have to beat out programs such as Texas A&M, Baylor and Tennessee for the commitment of the four-star recruit, but he has certainly been one of UA's most successful recruiters in the last couple years.

Recruits' relationship with Aych has been a big part of his success in the 2021 recruiting cycle and that is going to play a big part in helping Humphrey decide where he will ultimately play in college.

“If you have a good relationship with the coach, and y’all have been talking for a very long time and all that, it is very important because it is your future,” Humphrey recently told Hawg Beat this week. “Other than that a whole bunch of schools have been calling me, so I guess they are gonna be watching me this year too.”

Rivals.com South Central (Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma) analyst Sam Spiegelman has been impressed with what he's seen from Humphrey up to this point and recently wrote about the possibility of the impressive defensive back moving up into the Rivals100 at some point in the future. Here's what Spiegelman had to say about the new UA target.

"Julian Humphrey had a breakout year in the Clear Lake secondary last fall and brings a ton of position versatility to the table. Humphrey is a true 6-foot-1, 180-pound corner that can slide inside to nickel or play safety over the top. He boasts top-end speed (4.4-second 40 time) which is rather evident in his game. His short-area quickness is equally as impressive. More so, Humphrey does not shy away from being a physical run defender that will punish ball-carriers and receivers."
