Rundown: Arizona has continued to make new offers this week and one of them led to a commitment from JT Hand. Another new offer that went out in the last couple days went to Texas defensive end Cameron Whitfield who now has a dozen offers overall. The Wildcats are the second Power Five school to offer him with another Pac-12 program, Washington State, being the first. The Cougars offered him less than three weeks ago and over the last month he has received eight of his offers as his stock has risen late in the spring.

Whitfield was a standout prospect at the Rivals Camp in Houston earlier in the year and that is one of the ways he was able to get on the radar of college programs.

"Whitfield was in the showcase when we paired the best vs. the best in the trenches," the Rivals.com national staff wrote about the Pearland-Dawson standout's performance in Houston. "He is a strongside end, and he may end up there, but a move inside down the road as he continues to grow can’t be ruled out. He had more success outside, but he showed the ability to win with quickness and power."

The 6-foot-2, 240-pound recruit put together an impressive junior season at Dawson High last year as he finished with 79 tackles (66 solo), 23 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks and 12 quarterback hurries.

He previously stated that Louisiana, Houston, Memphis and New Mexico have been the schools standing out most to him so it will be interesting to see how Arizona figures into the equation now that he has an offer from the Wildcats, a Power Five school.

“I always check the roster, the facilities and the overall atmosphere,” he told Pirate Illustrated in recent weeks when it comes to what he is looking for as he evaluates college programs.

Because of his ability to produce and his unique size that could give his college program flexibility, Whitfield could soon see more Power Five-level offers come his way. It's a good thing for UA to get involved now as Illinois, Baylor, Oregon and Texas Tech are some of the programs that are also actively showing interest at this stage.
