COMMITMENT: Demond Williams

As we have talked about a number of times here, Arizona was in good position for four-star quarterback Demond Williams after hew decommitted from Ole Miss a few weeks back.

Now, after visiting with the Wildcats this past weekend, Williams has announced his commitment to the program on Twitter giving Arizona its second four-star recruit of the 2024 class.

The weekend visit to Tucson gets it done as Demond Williams announces his commitment to Arizona this morning following his latest trip to UA. He is the second Rivals250 recruit in the class and a major recruiting victory for Jedd Fisch within the state.

Position battles: Right guard

With Jonah Savaiinaea making the permanent switch from right guard to right tackle as Jedd Fisch said during Pac-12 Media Day, Arizona will now be looking to fill massive hole left behind with Savaiinaea gone.

In this article, I go over the names to keep an eye on during training camp that could win the starting job for the 2023 season.

Here's the article: https://arizona.rivals.com/news/arizona-football-position-battles-starting-right-guard

If you think I forgot a name, or want some details on another player, let me know.

Training camp days

Hey guys, Arizona sent out an email list open training camp days for media following Local Media Day on Tuesday which starts at 9 a.m. (MST) and runs through 11:45 a.m. (MST).

Here's are the open dates for Media members (it's unclear if it is fully open to the public. The email didn't say.):

Friday, Aug. 4
Sunday, Aug. 6
Monday, Aug. 7
Tuesday, Aug. 8
Thursday, Aug 10
Friday, Aug. 11
Saturday, Aug 12
Tuesday, Aug. 15
Wednesday, Aug. 16
Thursday, Aug. 17
Saturday, Aug 19

Those are the dates we have been given. They have not listed who we will be talking to on those days.

This is a far less number of open to the media practices than the last two seasons with Jedd Fisch if these days are set in stone and won't be added with any more viewings.

I'll find out more on Local Media Day.

COMMITMENT: 6-8 OL recruit Justin Hylkema picks Arizona

Arizona's next commitment is a big one, literally, as California offensive lineman Justin Hylkema announces his pledge for the Wildcats this evening after taking an official visit to UA earlier in the month. Washington State, Cal, Nevada, UNLV and Utah State are some of the other schools that offered him. Think he's been a little undervalued by teams, but the Arizona staff really likes what he brings to the table.

Arizona softball transfer update

Well, after talking to a few people I've got an update on Arizona plan for the transfer portal and it will shock you guys. The Wildcats new pitching coach Christian Conrad apparently really love the young talent coming in and what they have with Silva and Somerndike. Therefore, UA will not be aggressive at all in the portal and are not going after Stanford ace Alana Vawter, who is now down to Florida and FSU.

Jonah Miller

Matt and Tony, random question, but I saw on Twitter Jonah Miller is taking official visits and just received an offer from Boise State. A former 4-star tackle and Tucson kid should have Arizona's attention, so will he be a target for the staff? His Twitter bio says he's 6'9 285, so he would at least seem like another Joe Borjon type of development in a position of need. Is there stuff off the field that is turning Zona away? (Obviously don't want to speculate, but it's just super curious)
