Pretty much every major and important player on the team has come out with support for making Marcel Yates the next head coach. The chances that it actually happens are slim and situations like these rarely lead to the coach getting that internal promotion even with players voicing their opinion like they are.
I do think he was majorly restricted under Rodriguez from doing things exactly how he would like to and had to bite his tongue on certain things. He has obviously had his own off-the-field things, but the players really do like him. That sentiment isn't fake. They guys really do think he is the best man for the job. I talked to one player who is no longer on the team who loved playing for Yates, absolutely loved it and was trying to get back on board as a GA with the program.
In the grand scheme of things the players aren't going to have as much influence as they believe they do, but it is interesting.
