Sometimes moves on the travel ball circuit can play into things for prospects when it comes to their recruitments. A couple interesting moves happened yesterday when both Stephen Zimmerman and Derryck Thornton announced their plans to play for the Oakland Soldiers on the Nike circuit this spring and summer. Zimmerman had been a long time member of the DreamVision squad and Thornton had been as well.
Both will now get a chance to play with five-star big man Ivan Rabb on the EYBL circuit, which has become one of the most competitive leagues on the travel ball scene. Obviously the Wildcats have had success in recruiting Soldiers players with numerous Wildcats coming from that program including most recently Stanley Johnson and Aaron Gordon.
It will be interesting to see if this plays into Arizona's favor down the line.
