Hey guys, camp has ended for the day and I wanted to jump in here and give a few quick takes.
Quick takes:
Jacob Cowing vs. Gunner Maldonado - out of all the battle to watch this training, the battles between Jacob Cowing and Gunner Maldonado has been really entertaining to watch. Also, it has nothing to do with the match up that Cowing has absolutely dominated and everything to do with their interaction with each other.
Cowing has cooked Maldonado all camp long and it isn't even close. However, the two are always talking smack to each other after every play with Maldonado always starting it. I think it's clear that the two player do not like each other at all, for some reason.
Low energy - It always happens one of twice a training camp, the low energy practice. Thursday felt like that day for Arizona and it started really slow. However, things pick up near the end.
The shield - Arizona uses a "shield" to block for the punter on punts. This season, the starting shield looks to be Bill Norton, Jacob Kongaika and Tyler Manoa. A lot of size and power with that unit.
As always, we will have more from practice here shortly. Feel free to ask any questions you may have.
