Redshirt freshman tight end Jake Peters, a legacy, is planning to enter the transfer portal he announced tonight. He has already been removed from the online roster although entering the transfer portal does not mean he has to leave the program. It will allow him to speak with other programs and find a new home to finish out his career. Peters was on the path to being one of the top prospects in the West early in his high school career but an injury halted the process. Eventually he ended up following in his dad's footsteps and picking the Wildcats.
With Arizona not utilizing its tight ends much it makes sense that Peters will search for a new home. He is certainly a player with a lot to offer, but he just hasn't quite seemed to fit into this coaching staff's plans. It won't surprise me at all if he finds his new school and has a great career and ends up being one of the players fans feel bad about losing.
For now it means UA will continue to roll with a smaller tight end group featuring Bryce Wolma and Zach Williams on occasion.
