I've never wanted to put the "next Scooby Wright" moniker on Colin Schooler but there was one tackle for loss he had in the Oregon game where he looked like he was shot out of a canon and it was definitely a play reminiscent of Scooby. I had flashbacks for a moment and it was really the first time I thought they looked very, very similar. Right now Schooler has 75 tackles and 11.5 tackles for loss through 11 games and that is actually a better pace than Scooby had as a freshman. Schooler's 52 solo tackles are already nine better than what Scooby finished with in 13 games and he is only eight tackles behind where Scooby ended up in 2013. Scooby had nine tackles for loss that season.
That's not to say Schooler will make that Scooby-like jump his sophomore year, but he has certainly been an impressive piece to the defense.
Just an FYI, but Jake Fischer was the tackles leader that season with 99. Tony Fields II is the team leader currently at 81 tackles on the year this season. Marquis Flowers led that 2013 team with 11.5 tackles for loss. So if you're looking for the year before the year there are some similar numbers as the Wildcats had prior to the run to the Fiesta Bowl in 2014.
