We were talking in another thread about how Arizona is valuing size up front right now as it recruits defensive linemen. Well, that is something that clearly stands out about its newest offer in the 2018 class. The Wildcats became the second program to offer Mykee Irving from Calabasas High in California after UCLA offered him over a year ago last June. His recruitment has been interesting as there have been a number of big programs showing interest but none up until tonight had decided to come through with an offer after the Bruins did so last summer. The high three-star recruit checks in at 6-foot-4 and 303 pounds and could play on either side of the ball.
Arizona is looking at him on defense as a defensive tackle. I'm going to have to do some more digging to figure out why other schools haven't officially offered considering he looks the part and plays with the type of skill level you'd expect from a Power Five defensive tackle. Sometimes that could mean academic issues and others may have been scared off by UCLA offering first. It is an interesting scenario, but now Arizona is officially involved and it's something to keep an eye on.
