Arizona has released its injury report for this week and even though I tried hinting at it yesterday I was waiting until it came out to fully report this since Rich Rodriguez wasn't asked about it and thus we are not allowed to discuss it.
Anu Solomon has a knee injury and he is questionable for Saturday's game. I will tell you that Brandon Dawkins has been getting reps with the first unit this week after the injury happened (it took place in practice) and I fully expect him to play. The question remains if Solomon will too and at this point I am saying the 'Cats will err on the side of caution for the time being.
Questionable players can go either way sometimes but based on what was going on during practice this week I just don't see the Wildcats risking anything in a period when it doesn't have to with Grambling and Hawaii. Would it have been Washington or UCLA on the other side this week I could see Arizona pushing it but not right now.
Obviously for the pro-Dawkins crowd this will be a game that gets him onto the field and he'll have a chance to show what type of progress he has made since the end of last season. From the sounds of it Dawkins was making some good throws this week in practice and of course he has his running ability on top of that. In reality we really won't be able to pull much from this performance no matter how it really goes, but the Dawkins' fans will have their chance to see him in a more settled down environment which could still tell some things.
Rodriguez could have kept Solomon off the injury report altogether but he decided to put him on, which is interesting.
Along with Solomon the Wildcats have Tellas Jones listed as questionable too with the ankle injury from Saturday's game. If there is a week not to test him and let him get some more rest it will be this one. I would expect the 'Cats to be cautious with him too.
As I mentioned earlier in the week I wouldn't expect Tony Ellison back for at least a little bit longer with his knee injury and he is once again listed as out for this Saturday's game. He is making progress, but there is still some more time needed to get back to 100 percent.
