Arizona has dipped into the junior college ranks once again for its latest commitment. Thursday night, following the announcement earlier in the day of Joe Salave'a as the next defensive line coach in Tucson, Cerritos College defensive tackle Leroy Palu announced his pledge to the Wildcats. Palu recently visited UA and picked the program over offers from New Mexico, Hawaii, Nevada, Colorado State and Utah State.
Palu is a big body at 6-foot-3 and 300 pounds who can play a couple different roles up front for the Wildcats. He figures to be an interior guy for Salave'a and Danny Gonzales following a standout season at Cerritos, where former UA assistant Davy Gnodle is the defensive line coach. Palu was fifth on the team in tackles with 39 to go along with 13 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks, both team highs. He'll have two seasons of remaining eligibility at UA.
