The front page of GOAZCATS.com, like so many other web sites today, is having issues because of a problem with Amazon Web Services. Until that is up and running I wanted to bring you a recap of Adia Barnes press conference earlier today. She spoke with the media for about 40 minutes and was about as candid as you'll find in a coach these days. She has had issues trying to find opponents to play and recently had to go to Twitter to see if anyone would be willing to play the Wildcats. She was able to tentatively lock in one game with an unnamed opponent for Dec. 23 but is still working to find one more nonconference game.
In addition to that, UA recently had a COVID-19 scare that resulted in eight players being held out for three days as they isolated awaiting word on the results of a test. The positive test ended up as a false positive, but Barnes said if UA had to play a game earlier this week she would have been required to do so with only seven players and she hinted that some of the team's key players might have been part of the group required to quarantine.
She went into all of that today and you can see the highlights of the conversation with her in the video above. Barnes sound much less optimistic about this season today than she has at any point this year and she even went as far as to say she isn't confident the conference will be able to get in all of its games this season. It's clear that the COVID-19 false positive ordeal has changed her outlook on things. Most of Arizona's coaches have been mum about the actual testing process but Barnes gave us our best details yet of how the process works giving some insight into why so many games are getting postponed and canceled.
