Arizona assistant coach Jason Terry is leaving the program to take over a team on the professional level. Terry will become the head coach of the NBA G League's Grand Rapids Gold, an affiliate of the Denver Nuggets. The reality is Terry was never going to be part of UA's staff for long and there had already been plenty of rumors that he was looking at joining the Dallas Mavericks staff as an assistant. Now he will get the opportunity to become a head coach after just one season as a college assistant. He needed to show some kind of experience and apparently one season on Sean Miller's staff was enough. Tommy Lloyd is certainly not going to be surprised by this and the expectation is that Jason Gardner will have an increased role and likely end up as the other full-time assistant with Riccardo Fois still in the plans as the third assistant on staff. For the moment, Arizona now has two openings it needs to fill on Lloyd's staff, but there is a plan for everything and this isn't catching Arizona by surprise at all.
